Name of the book: Little Maryam
Author: Hamid Baig
This book took me by storm, surprise and way too many tears.
I was not ready for this book. I read this in the early months of 2018 and I was not at all prepared for what was about to hit me. The book could have way too many possibilities of its ending, it could have so much better, because in retrospect, I did not expect that this innocent looking book with an even innocent title would do this.
The story line was good, the way it progressed was not so good and the way it ended was also not good. Not saying I didn't like the book per se but I just didn't think that it would cause so many ripples in my heart. It really did tug at my heart strings.
I wonder if the author had written the book while reminiscing the accounts of his own first love which would be awkward, you know, considering his wife and two children. But regardless, it was a fine-ish read overall. Not too bad and not too good. Surely a book you can recommend to people.
No favourite lines because I don't remember any.
Ratings: 7 cold swings/ 10 cold swings.
