"Nervous, bro?" Emmett clamped his hand on my shoulder. First date jitters?
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "It's not a date. We're working on a project."
Just the two of you. He wagged his brows suggestively. "So, what's the plan? You going to take her into the forest, and kiss her under the light of a thousand stars?"
"As tempting as that is, Emmett- No," I was quick to say. "Besides, it's overcast. There would be no stars 'shining down on us'."
"Shame." Every girl dreams of being kissed under the stars.
Alice's chipper thoughts flooded my mind shortly before she made an appearance, climbing in through the window with an elegant pep in her step, followed closely by Jasper.
"Stop being a bad influence, Emmett," she scolded him, narrowing her eyes at our grinning brother. "He's taking his time. As he should. The best relationships are built on friendship."
He hummed in response, a mischievous glint in his eye as he said, "Slow burns do burn the brightest, I suppose." Wink, wink.
Ugh, he's exhausting. I pinched the bridge of my nose as I tried to block out his perverse thoughts to no avail.
"If you leave in two minutes, you'll get there right on time," Alice told me, bringing me back to reality.
I flashed her a grateful smile. "Thanks, Alice."
"Anytime." And don't worry. I'm going to ensure that everyone is on their best behavior when she arrives. We'll make ourselves scarce.

I inhaled a shaky breath as I rummaged through my wardrobe, finally settling on a pair of blue jeans and a yellow plaid long-sleeved shirt. We would probably be outside quite a bit, given the fact that our project is inspired by 'nature', so I wanted to be prepared in case we ended up trekking through the woods.
As I stared at my reflection, I couldn't help but frown. The outfit looked... frumpy? Safe to say, Natalie wouldn't approve. Would Edward think I looked like a slob? I mentally scolded myself for even having the thought. This certainly wasn't a date, so why should I care what I look like? More importantly, why should I care what Edward thinks I look like?
Butterflies engulfed my stomach at the mere thought of him, much to my chagrin.
As if on cue, Cedric apparated beside me, peering over my shoulder with a frown that mirrored my own as I stared at his reflection in the mirror.
"Replacing me so soon?" He quirked a brow, his frown deepening as I spun around to face him.
"Why would you even say that?" I asked him, folding my arms across my chest.
