After the tragic death of her best friend/unrequited love, Cedric Diggory, Elliana Kingsley, a Muggle-born witch, chose to leave Hogwarts and travel with her parents to the continental US, hoping for a fresh start.
But her world is turned upside wh...

"Isabella Marie Swan," he spoke, his voice thick with emotion. "She went by 'Bella', of course. It was a pet peeve of hers when someone called her 'Isabella'." He chuckled wryly, a faraway look falling over his voice as he seemed to lose himself in a memory. "My family and I were living in Forks, Washington at the time— the rainiest town in the continental US. Up until that point in my life, I accepted that I was different from my siblings in the aspect that I didn't particularly desire companionship in a romantic sense. Then, she came along..."
He trailed off, his smile wavering.
Hoping to urge him to continue, I said, "Let me guess... It was love at first sight?"
"How cliché," Cedric mumbled, breathing out a laugh that was void of humor.
I fought against the urge to shoot him a glare. Now wasn't the time for his commentary.
Edward's golden eyes flickered to mine, small flames dancing in their depths.
"Not exactly," he breathed out, slowly shaking his head. "I'll admit I was drawn to her, but it wasn't for the right reasons."
My curiosity was piqued. Luckily, he continued without any urging.
"Are you familiar with the term 'blood singer'?" He questioned, hesitation written all over his face.
Blood singer. I recalled reading about them in Newt Scamander's book.
Nodding, I said, "Yes. I've read about them."
He pressed his lips into a thin line before saying, "She was my blood singer."
A gasp flew through my lips, thoroughly surprised. He fell in love with his blood singer? It was far-fetched enough that the girl he fell in with was a human, but she was his blood singer as well?!
"Wow," I breathed, blinking rapidly before offering him a sympathetic smile. "I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you."
A moment of silence passed before he nodded, speaking in a velvet-smooth voice, "When I first met her, I was convinced that she was sent from hell to torture me. It wasn't just her blood that drew me in. Her mind was a mystery to me, which was something I'd never encountered before."
Ambivalence washed over me as I processed that. My mind was also a mystery to him. Was he befriending me for that reason alone? As quickly as I had the thought, I banished it. Regardless, if there was any truth behind it, it didn't change anything. Edward has proven to be a wonderful friend to me. And honestly, who could blame him if he wanted a friend whose thoughts weren't thrust upon him 24/7?
"Elliana, I've been in your head for months. Rest assured, even if he could read your mind, he'd still choose to be your friend," Cedric commented, his lips tugging up at the corners.
