THE AFTERNOON AIR WAS DEAD QUIET AND cold in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. An inconspicuous beige mini van was parked in front of the building complex to its right. The driver whose face was covered in a fox Halloween mask anxiously drummed her fingers against the steering wheel. Suddenly the shrill sounds of alarms blared inside the complex making the girl sit up right in her seat. Four just as suspicious people swiftly darted out of the building, covered in dark clothing and masks.

"Go! Go! Go! Go!" One of them shouted as they all rushed down the small flight of stairs. "Move it." He told them.

"Let's get out of here!" Another exclaimed as she opened the side door before jumping inside. Quickly they all entered the van, the sounds of police sirens echoing in the cold wind. Without hesitation the driver hit the gas pedal and made a hard u-turn, with a cop car instantly tailing after the van.

"Headed down Poplar, toward Main." One of the officers called it in as he stared down the vehicle. They both swerved down the road barely missing other innocent civilians who were driving to their desired destination.

Each one of the young adults in the van quickly took off their masks as they huffed for air. The driver frustratedly casted hers aside as she focused on the road ahead of her. "Get 'em off of us, Chaeyoung!" One yelled as he glanced back spotting the close proximity of the police car.

"I'm working on it!" Chaeyoung fired back as she pressed her foot harder on the accelerator.

"The alley. To your right." Her friend calmly noted as she stared keenly ahead, her eyes vacant of any emotion.

Chaeyoung nodded as she breathed deeply, anxiousness evidently coursing through her veins. "Okay." She roughly turned the steering wheel instantly entering the alleyway jolting everyone with her speedy turn.

The police car behind them forcefully stopped as another vehicle accidentally cut in front of them honking at the near collision. "Shit!" The officer bellowed as he smacked the steering wheel.

"Shit! Shit! Shit!" Chaeyoung repeated as a car came rushing in front of the narrow street making her twist the wheel to the side instantly colliding with a bundle of boxes and trash.

One of the other girls couldn't contain her excitement and giggled at the mess. Adrenaline pumped in her veins at the high speed chase. Chaeyoung maneuvered the van across the street narrowly missing a few cars who honked at her reckless driving. Exiting the alleyway, she significantly slowed down the car. The quiet afternoon night engulfed the atmosphere, making Chaeyoung release a relieved sigh as she leaned her head back into the seat headrest. "Okay. Okay." She mumbled to herself trying to calm the prickling jitters.

Not even moments later the shrill sounds of police sirens cut through the air as a horde of vehicles turned into the street they were driving through. "Son of a bitch! We got more!" The boy shouted, tensing Chaeyoung up even more.
