(tk)"Tay your freezing, If you would have listened and brought a jacket you wouldn't be in this predicament." I lecture Taylor whilst slinging my jacket over her shoulders.
"I didn't think it was gonna be this cold!" She argues, rubbing a hand over her belly.
"Babygirl. We live in New York." I say. "Well yeah but it's late spring." She says and I laugh.
I link our hands again and we continue walking down the paved pathway of the tree swarmed park. Taylor somehow convinced me to go on a walk at 11pm. She said if I wouldn't go with her then she would go alone, and I wasn't gonna let her get kidnapped.
We suddenly hear a little noise coming from a bush. Taylor stops in her tracks and looks at me.
"Is that a cat?" She says.
"I dunno, it sure sounded like one." I say and let go of her hand to go investigate. I pull some leaves and sticks to the side and a brown kitten walks out and up onto the walkway.
"OH MY GOSH A LITTLE BABY KITTY! LOOK AT YOU PRECIOUS!" Taylor says in a baby voice as the kitten prances over to her. She squats down and pets the kitty before picking it up and looking at me. Based on her face I already know what she's about to ask me.
"Taylor..." I begin saying. "Travis..." she repeated.
"Babe look at her. She's not gonna survive out here." She says as I wrap my arm around her shoulders. Taylor looks back up at me teary eyed.
"Where are we gonna put her?" I say wiping the single tear that made its way down her face.
"With the other cats, Travis please." She begs.
"...Okay." I give in. Every salty drop of water that flows down her cheeks rips one of my heart strings apart so how could I not say yes?
"I love you I love you I love you." Taylor says kissing my jawline between each 'I love you'.
She tucks the cat under her jacket and we start walking to the closest pet store. We grab a cart and go to pick out a cat bed first. We get a cute little strawberry bed and place it in the cart. Tay puts the little kitty in and spins the bed to face us so we can see her.
We get all the essentials, Aka everything that we don't already have for the 3 cats at home. We get one more food bowl, some kitten food, a collar, another carrier, a few baby toys, and some more cat blankets.
We put the cat in the carrier and go to checkout and pay for everything. Our apartment building is only about a 10 minute walk but we decide to get a taxi anyway.
Tay hold the cat carrier on her lap the whole way and I get some cute pictures of her poking her fingering through the holes, playing with the cat.
We get inside the apartment and I set up the guest bedroom for the cat. We don't want the other cats to get protective and hurt her somehow. But we also have started turning the guest room into a baby nursery, just a few things.
"Tay!" I call out her name. She walks in a few seconds later holding a the beautiful chocolate brown pint sized kitten. She walks over and takes a seat next to me. She sets the cat down and lets it run around. She rests her head on my shoulder and takes a deep breath.
I tilt my head to the side so it's on top of hers. I pull her hands into my lap and hold them gently as we watch the cat play.
"What are we gonna name her?" I say after a while.
"Jo, like Jo March from little women." She says and looks up at me.
I instantly smile down at her and nod my head and she stretches up to kiss me.
"Now I think it's time for us to sleep too." I say pointing to little Jo who's passed out on the floor.
She giggles and stands up. She holds her hand out for her to help me up, I grab her hand and pull her down onto my lap.
"Did you really think you could've helped me up?" I ask her while tickling her stomach.
I wrap one hand around her legs and the other around her back and stand up holding her. I walk out of the room and turn around so Taylor can shut the door.
