Preforming at the Orpheum had relit a light in Julie that she had forgotten existed. She had finally gotten the courage to go on stage herself, unsure the guys would even be there.
Apparently she had given some of that life to her band, because they were standing in front of her, more solid and alive than they'd ever been.
Julie flipped through endless possibilities, her mind racing as she tried to give some sort of explanation as to why this had happened.
Her thinking was interrupted by a sudden question from Alex.
"Do you think other people can see us now?" He asked hesitantly, as if he was afraid to bring up the new change.
Reggie shrugged. "Only one way to find out. You guys wanna get some food?"
Luke remained silent, staring at Julie with question in his eyes, waiting for her to say something.
She finally spoke. "I think you should stay here. We don't want anyone recognizing you and freaking out that dead rock bands are roaming the streets." She decided.
Luke collapsed on the couch behind them, sighing deeply. "Julie's right. We have to be really careful with this."
"Julie? You out here?" A voice called from outside the garage.
Julie smacked her forehead. "Shoot, I forgot about Carlos. I gotta get him outta here. Just sit tight until I come back, okay guys?"
She carefully slipped outside, being sure to not let the ghostly band in her little brother's line of sight.
Whatever was happening, she needed to take it slowly. Now that the excitement of their new discovery had worn off, it was starting to freak her out.
Julie shook her head, trying to clear her mind. Worrying wouldn't help anyone right now.
Carlos was peeking nosily outside the garage, eyes wide and scanning every inch of the studio he caught a glimpse of.
It was dark outside, and the bright light spilling from the doorway lit up the Molina's driveway.
Julie closed the door behind her, hoping to distract her brother from any suspicions he may have.
"What did you need, Carlos?" She asked, a nervous smile on her face.
Carlos raised an eyebrow. "What are you being so secretive about in there? Your ghost band?"
Julie's look of utter surprise made him smile.
"That's right, I figured it out." He boasted, hands on his hips.
His sister still stood in shock, but quickly came back to her senses. "How-" "I found an old album with a photo of those guys. Plus, you're not that good with electronics. There's no way you could work a hologram machine."
After the shock factor wore off, Julie actually wasn't surprised Carlos had figured it out. Reggie had definitely given him some clues out of boredom.
"Well, you got me. But I need a couple minutes with my ghost band to discuss our important ghost band business. I'll meet you in the house?" Julie shooed her little brother away.
"Fine, but you have to answer some questions when you get back!" Carlos said replied, skipping excitedly back up the steps to the house.
Even though events of the night were finally catching up to her and Julie was starting to feel tired, the mix of confusion and excitement continued coursing through her veins, so she walked back into the studio to check how it was going with her phantoms.
It was strangely quiet, and the only movement Julie could spot was the ticking of a small wall clock across the room.
"Where did you guys go?" She asked into thin air, looking around. A sliver of worry twinged in her chest, but she ignored it.
They're probably hiding because of Carlos, she reasoned. But they weren't coming out from behind anything. Where could they have gone? Could they still poof out to other places? Had they fully crossed over?
Julie's worries were quieted when the three boys appeared in the middle of the room, to her relief.
"Where were you guys?" She asked, sighing.
"We wanted to spy on your conversation," Reggie admitted, earning with a small shove from Luke.
Alex stepped forward, his expression shrouded with concern. "Maybe we should call it a night and figure things out tomorrow. You look kind of tired." He suggested.
Julie smiled thankfully. "Good idea. Whatever is going on, we can get through it. I'll see you guys tomorrow, okay? Try to stay out of sight just in case."
She kept cautioning them, and Alex reassured her, ushering her to the door.
"Okay, one last hug!" Julie threw her arms around the three boys, smiling contentedly. She could get used to this.
With one final wave she left them in the studio, switching the lights off as she left.
