The day in Japan started with an odd sense of calm. The sun hung brightly in the sky, its rays warm but not overwhelming. Yet, thick clouds hovered above, casting intermittent shadows across the city. It was the type of weather that could shift at any moment—just like life in this chaotic time. Aya Yagi noticed the subtle chill in the air as she made her way through the streets to pick up her son, Toshinori, from school.
