Soon as I step off on the plane, my anxieties grow bigger because of my thoughts that keep me bothered about my sudden decision. I grip tightly the sling of my bag that is hanging on my left shoulder while biting my lip like it was the mannerism of mine.
I made my way through the direction of General Justiano who was standing beside a golf cart that was not so far from where we landed. Big smiles were written to his face and he was wearing a gray suit.
”I’m glad you made up your mind Z”
He said immediately when I stopped in front of him. I just give him a slight smile and nod as an answer.
”Welcome to Draco’s Mevrick Agency”
He’s smile didn’t leave his face hanggang sa pasakayin niya ako sa golf cart na katabi. We landed at a wide circle field which was located at the back of the building I spotted earlier. It’s not just as far as you think, kung tutuosin ay pwede naman itong lakarin mula dito, I just don’t know what’s this general thinking why we still need to drive this thing.
”How’s the flight?”
He asked as he started driving the cart.
”It was good”
I answered while looking at the many tresses that orderly planted both sides of the way we passed through. After naming itong malampasan ay isang malaking gusali na ang umagaw ng attention ko that shape into a giant igloo made of coated reflective glass and a wide rectangular field in front of it.
”Agent Brooks informed that this is the new base how come?”
I suddenly ask out of my curiosity. Yes kuya informed me about the agency he works for but I never see it in person.
”Oh that? It’s because the government decided to detach the DM so now it was a private agency already”
”Why?”
Bumuntong hininga ito bago sumagot.
”It happened five years ago. After that mission”
Napaiwas ako ng tingin ng sulyapan ako nito. Naibaling ko na lang ang mga tingin sa mga agent na nakakalat sa field na may kanya-kanyang ginagawa.
”When we reported it to the higher up and they were so angry at the failure we made. Tinanggalan nila ng lisensya ang agency that it will not be able to do some mission anymore. It takes 2 years since the DM goes back to its track again with the help of Mr. Sloan”
Tuluyang tumigil na ang sinasakyan sa mismong harapan ng gusali. Agad kong iginala ang paningin nang makababa at nakalimutan ng tanongin ang hindi pamilyar na taong binanggit nito.
”There’s still so much to see inside so let’s go”
Nauna siyang naglakad habang ako ay sumunod lang. Pagkapasok namin sa loob ay isang lobby ang unang bumungad sa amin. Lumapit kami doon at agad kinausap ng kasama ko ang front desk agent na hindi ko na pinagtuunan ng pansin dahil sa kakausisa ko sa lugar. Merong apat na elevator dito, dalawang naka lagay sa kaliwa at dalawa din na meron sa kanan kung saan isa sa mga yun ay sumakay kami pagkatapos ng kasama ko sa ginawa.
”Why are there a lot of elevators here?”
I ask that made him chuckle.
”It helps every one to go on the floor they want without waiting long”
Hindi na ako nagsalita pagkatapos non. May kung anong pinindot ito sa mga buttons na nandidito pagkatapos sinabihan akong tumalikod na nagtataka kong sinunuod. Nagulat naman ako ng biglang naging transparent ang pader sa likod kaya ngayon malaya kung nakikita ang bawat palapag na nadadaanan nito.
