chapter 1 (jimin)

I take a deep breath as I stand outside the massive gates of this prestigious University.

This moment has been years in the making - years of struggle, sacrifice, and relentless hard work.

But I made it.

Against all odds, I, Park Jimin, secured a full scholarship to one of the top universities in the country.

As an unmated omega from a poor family, the world has never made things easy for me.

I was mercilessly bullied in school for my status and lack of wealth.

But I refused to be defeated or defined by my biology or financial circumstances.

My inner omega has remained mostly dormant all these years because guess what? - I don't have time for frivolous things like finding a mate when my goals are so much bigger.

But my grandfather (mum's dad) stepped up, working multiple jobs to give me a chance at life, and in turn giving me a chance at education despite our poverty.

He sacrificed everything to make sure I never went hungry or missed school. I'll never forget the nights he went to sleep with an empty stomach, as long as I had food in my belly. His selfless devotion gave me the strength to keep fighting, no matter how tough things became.

After finishing high school, I planned to apply to universities immediately. But then grandfather fell gravely ill, and I had to put my dreams on hold for two years to work multiple part-time jobs to pay for his care and keep a roof over our heads.

I waited tables at a restaurant, tutored the son of a wealthy family, and took on whatever odd jobs I could find, no matter how menial or exhausting.

Nights after double shifts waiting tables and cleaning until the early hours, I'd be studying relentlessly to prepare for university entrance exams.

Proving my academic worth was the only way an unmated omega like me could hope to attend a top University.

More than once, I was propositioned by filthy alphas wanting me as their pretty little live-in mate in exchange for financial security.

But I refused to sell myself into that gilded cage and surrender my independence, no matter how dire our circumstances became. My freedom and self-respect mean everything to me. 

With grandfather's condition stabilized, I could finally focus all my energy on applying for scholarships last year. My hard work paid off when I aced the exam for élancé University.

When the admissions letter arrived, my grandfather cried tears of joy and hugged me tighter than ever before.

This was the first step in our wildest dreams coming true.

As I walk through the university gates today, I'm filled with a sense of awe and profound gratitude for my beloved grandfather who helped me along this path. His unwavering support and absolute faith in me gave me the courage to ignore all the voices telling me an omega like me didn't belong at an elite university.
