Chapter 13: Another Step Closer

It was a little after noon but Mogchoji was still asleep. Chan decided that he'd start on lunch, knowing she would probably be hungry when she woke up. The house was quieter than he was used to leaving him to replay the events of the previous night in his mind. He had no intentions or expectations of the date ending with him making love to her. Especially as many times as they did throughout the night. He had never so much as hinted at it before because he worried it would trigger an episode. He of course wanted her intimately, but his only focus was to shower her with love and show her that she was precious to him. Such happiness and joy filled his heart. But it wasn't just the experience that made him feel that way. Sure, that was of course part of it. But it was so much deeper than that. It was a breakthrough. A big one. And each breakthrough was a step closer to the healing he so desperately wanted for her and promised to help her find. His smile grew even bigger as he replayed her beautiful voice saying "I love you." to him.

The coffee finished brewing and he poured himself a cup. Just as he brought the cup to his lips, the door swung open. The quiet that filled the house was now gone. Seungmin and Jeongin charged into the living room fighting over who would win MarioKart. Minho hauled off and smacked Jisung's ass so hard that it echoed through the room. Changbin walked in carrying arms full of bags complaining screaming at everyone for not helping. Hyunjin and Felix came in immediately begging for the details of the date.

Chan pinched the ridge of his nose and furrowed his eyebrows at bombardment of questions instead of answering them.

"Since you aren't talking, we're going to Jiji. Where is she?" Hyunjin asked with a frustrated tone.

"She's still asleep." Chan replied.

Minho stopped in his tracks and whipped around facing Chan. "Is she ok? What happened?" He questioned desperately, knowing that she only sleeps in after an episode.

"Yea, no. She's fine! Nothing happened." He replied

"Ok, I'll go wake her up. I need details." Hyunjin demanded

Chan rolled his eyes as he went back to cooking. A couple of minutes later, Hyunjin ran back into the living room with panic on his face. "She's not in her room!" He yelled, grabbing everyone's attention and causing them to worry.

Chan threw his head back and sucked his breath through his teeth as he brushed his hand through his hair in embarrassment. "That's because she's in my room." He mumbled. Their eyes widened and jaws dropped as they slowly looked over to Chan.

Felix, who was standing next to Chan quietly and sheepishly asked "Does that mean you..." Chan nodded his head before Felix could finish causing a range of expressions from the members. Felix and Hyunjin of course threw their hands over their mouths to contain their squeals. The two maknaes had slightly disgusted looks on their innocent faces. Changbin, Minho, and Jisung just stood stunned. Chan's face flushed with embarrassment.

A while later, after most of the details of the night were revealed, the boys all settled into the living room arguing over which movie to watch. Mogchoji was shuffling back and forth through the kitchen preparing snacks. As she stood at the counter cutting fruits, she began humming. She didn't realize it, but the boys immediately noticed. They quietly looked back and forth at each other with smiles on their faces. She had only sang a few times over the last few months but each time was as the first. The boys had to listen from a distance. But this time, she was humming. And she was right behind them. "Another step closer." Chan whispered with a proud smile.

The movie ended and everyone settled into doing their own things. Hyunjin went out to get the pictures that he had taken developed for Chan. Minho and Jisung were out on a much needed date. Changbin was working out in the gym. Chan was making tracks on his laptop at the kitchen island. Mogchoji and the three younger boys were scattered in the living room, each with their own laptops playing in a match together.

"He's down, head to the next room and I'll cover you." Felix instructed Jeongin.
"I'll cover the stairs." Seungmin replied
"Ok we're clear." Jeongin stated
"Good. Remember the plan. I'll throw the flash grenade then we'll rush them. Pup, you take the left. Innie, take the right. Bokie, cover the rear. I'll go straight down the center. 1.. 2.. 3!"

After a few moments, the explosions and gunfire echoing through the living died down, as did their commands to each other. Chan laughed in amusement at the war happening in the next room. After a couple of hours, Hyunjin walked in with a huge smile in his face as he handed Chan the pictures he had just developed. Chan's smile grew bigger and bigger with each photo. His favorite picture was taken at the cafe. The photo showed her reaching for the camera with the most adorable scowl on her face. "I'm framing this one." He told Hyunjin as he held it out. Hyunjin smiled. "I knew that one would be you favorite."

"Are you excited about your first Stray Kids concert in a couple of weeks?" Chan asked Mogchoji as she sat and watched him work on his laptop.
"I can't wait!" She squealed. "Who would've thought I'd attend my first Stray Kids concert as the leaders girlfriend." She added with a laugh. Chan chuckled at her comment before leaning in the place a kiss on her forehead. "Go call for the boys and we'll eat at the cafe tonight yea?" She squealed with excitement and rushed to gather the boys.

"You're not cutting the kimchi right Jeongin!" Changbin whined as the younger struggled.

"Leave my baby bread alone Binnie!" Mogchoji scolded as she took over cutting the kimchi. As she cut, she saw Chan from the corner of her eye taking pictures of her with his phone. "Christopher Bang, put that phone down!" She playfully growled.

"But you're cuuute." He pouted, ignoring her demand.

She lifted the scissors and pointed the toward him. "What did I say?" She glared.

"Kitten has her claws out hyung, you better listen." Minho advised.

"Yea, you better listen. She kicked my ass in the ring earlier." Changbin whined in embarrassment

"Ookaaayyyyy." Chan pouted as he placed his phone on the table. She leaned over and kissed him on the nose. "I love you." She whispered. He felt as if butterflies fluttered throughout his body. As the rest continued eating, he picked up his phone and began aggressively typing the lyrics that began to flood his mind.
