Chapter 5- A Bump In The Road

Peeta POV-
I wake up and look over at Katniss and whispers, "she's been up almost all night with the baby, she needs sleep."
I sneak downstairs and walk into the kitchen. I take out all of the ingredients to make pancakes, and I place them onto the counter. I slowly place a bowl on the counter so I don't wake Katniss or the baby. As I make the pancakes, I take out some bacon to make with it. After making the bacon, the whole house begins to smell like bacon. After finishing the pancakes and bacon I set the table nicely and pull out all of Katniss' favorite things. I walk upstairs to wake Katniss. I wake her by kissing her gently. "Katniss I have a surprise for you," I say softly, smiling.

Katniss POV-
I smile and wake up slowly. "What is it?" I say still half asleep.
"If I told you then it wouldn't be a surprise," he laughs and replies.
I get up and go downstairs. "Peeta you made me breakfast!?"
"Yep, you were up with the baby a lot of the night, it was the least I could do," he smiles.
"Shhh you need to eat too," I grab a pancake and put it in his mouth.
He tries to talk but can't because of the pancake.

-after breakfast-
Still Katniss POV-
I hear Willow making weird noises in her crib. I walk up and see her, not looking normal. She is gasping for breath and looking like she's spasming, "Willow!" I grab her out of the crib and run down to Peeta.
"Peeta something is wrong!!" I say on the verge of crying.
"What's wrong?!" He says running up to us.
"Willow! She can't breathe! We have to take her to the hospital!" I run with Willow out to the car, Peeta following with the car keys.

-at the hospital-
Peeta and I run into the hospital, me freaking out and Peeta trying to stay calm.
"We need a doctor!!" I yell and the nurse quickly finds us a room. She begins to hook Willow up to breathing machines and an IV. I begin to cry, and Peeta begins to comfort me.
"It'll be okay I promise," as he says that the nurse tells us we must leave and wait in the hall for a bit. After putting up a fight, Peeta and I walk into the hall and sit. I am worried sick. We wait and wait until finally the doctor comes out.
"We are unsure on how she will respond to all the treatments. Hopefully she will respond well but we don't really know because she's so young," the doctor says, looking at us. "She will have to be here for at least a few days"
"I'm not leaving her here! Not if she has the chance of dying!" I half yell at the doctor. Peeta pulls me back, embracing me in his arms, trying to calm me down, "shhh Katniss it's going to be okay. Willow will be fine. We have to trust the doctors," I then nod my head slowly, calming down.
"I will call you at least once a day to tell you how she is doing. We are going to work our hardest and I will put the best doctors in charge of her."

-at home-
I walk to the couch, plopping onto it, stressed. I sigh not wanting to look at Peeta, afraid that I embarrassed him at the hospital. He just walks over and sits by me, pulling me into his arms, rubbing my back and playing with my hair. After sitting there awhile, the phone rings. Peeta gets up slowly, "it's the doctor," he says kind of timidly, then he answers the phone.
Peeta- "Hello?"
Doctor- "Hello, this is the Mellark residence correct?"
Peeta- "Yes, it is. How is Willow?"
Doctor- "Well...."
