It's been six months since I had my last drop of freedom.

Today we stand on the battle field. Tom is nowhere in sight and half of me believes he's dead. The other half of me refuses to acknowledge it.

Maybe he's getting help? Maybe he's back at the manor, awaiting his orders.

My fingers curl into fists as I feel another tug on my shirt. Bellatrix is holding tight to me, grinning like a madwoman as she stares at Voldemort.

There's dozens of people around us, but I'm only looking for one.

And then I'm being shoved forward, moving fast towards the open space between Hogwarts and the Death Eaters. I stumble to the ground and my palms scrape against the concrete.

Choose a side, my son." He taunts, gesturing to me. "The mudblood or your family."

I follow his eyes and my sight catches on Tom who stands just beside his brother, taller and angrier than I've seen him before.

Tom's lip curls at the Dark Lord's words and Voldemort grins, clearly misreading the situation. "I'm sorry, Kade."

My heart drops, and for a split second, I'd been convinced he was going to pick our father.

Until he's sending a knockback jinx in his direction, diving towards me. The cruciatus curse hits him in the back and he falls to the ground, pained screams leaving his lips.

Fear covers my body in the form of goosebumps. I take his head into my hands, cradling him away from his father. Even now, powerless, I'm willing to risk myself in order to help the son of the man who's plotting muggle genocide.

"Protego!" I hear, but it's muffled as a light green barrier forms around the two of us.

The curse falls away from Tom and his convulsing ceases. He reaches up a hand, pushing my hair out of my face. His lips quirk into a smile and I reach around him to grab his wand from the ground.

"Episkey." I whisper, hearing his bones realign themselves and snap back into place.

He lets out a pained grunt and I'm dropping the wand to hold his face again.

"You're just as beautiful as the day I lost you." He whispers hoarsely.

"Don't die." I murmur, tears pricking at my eyes.

"It's the fight of our lives, little mouse." He scoffs a laugh, pushing himself upwards. "There's no time to be sitting on our asses."

I grin and take his hand, allowing him to pull me to my feet.

"Here." He whispers, handing me his wand.

"But what about you?" I ask, my eyebrows furrowing.

"I have these." He says, rolling up his sleeves and two blades protruding outwards.

The two of us step out of the protective bubble and into the chaos.

Tom grabs ahold of my arm, pulling me closer. His lips press to mine, rubble falling all around us. Fire courses through my flames, his spark reigniting my fight.

"You be careful." He says hoarsely. "I'm going to rid us of these Death Eaters. You need to find Novaline and Regulus."

I frown. "What?"

"They have a horcrux. They need to destroy it." He says, pressing his lips to mine. "I love you, Kaeda."

He doesn't wait for me to say it back, he's running off towards the bridge with hundreds of Death Eaters. At the same time, a dragon soars overhead, scorching the bridge.
