I never intended to scare her with my deepest fear. We'd been playing that stupid game I read about in those muggle books. I never thought she'd feel frightened of me.
But now that I've seen her glancing at me for the past week from across the dining hall, the classrooms, the quidditch pitch, I know she's scared.
During the last week of detentions, barely any words were uttered between the two of us. Nothing more than 'pass the soap' and 'can you reach these' were spoken and the silence is driving me mental.
This time, I walk into the classroom with an agenda. Today, I will make Kaeda Wyatt talk to me.
When I get there, Snape is already gone and Kaeda's already working on the cauldrons. I clear my throat and she drops the rag into the cauldrons, looking over her shoulder at me.
Her robe is already lying on the table, her sleeves rolled up and her skirt dangling over the edge of the stool.
I lean my hands on the table on either side of her, boxing her in. She turns slowly, facing me. Our faces are just inches apart.
"Are you afraid of me?" I ask, quirking a brow.
She narrows her eyes, her jaw clenching. She doesn't answer, chewing on the inside of her lip instead.
Her defiance is admirable. My smirk grows into a grin and I drop my head, my eyes closing as I poorly attempt to hide my amusement.
"Do you trust me?" I ask.
"No." She says stubbornly.
"Good." I mutter, picking up my head, my grin still tugging at my lips. "You'd be a fool to trust me."
I grab her hand and haul her out of her seat, pulling her towards the door. She tugs at my arm, struggling to get me to stop walking.
"Riddle, if you don't let me go right now, I swear, I'll—"
"You'll what, little mouse?" I ask, turning to look at her.
She huffs in defeat, looking back at the messy cauldrons. "But what if Snape comes back?"
"He won't." I respond with a shrug.
"How do you know?"
"I slipping a sleeping potion into his water." I answer, smirking at the disbelief on her face.
"You could be expelled for that." She whispers harshly. "What if—"
"It won't happen, Kaeda. He's scared of my family." I mutter in response. "Now, if you don't come with me, I'll haul you over my shoulder and carry you there."
"You wouldn't dare." She says, her brows creasing in challenge.
I shrug, crouching down and grabbing her thighs. Her stomach drapes over my shoulder, her skirt rising up beside my head. I hold her in place with my arm and use my other hand to pull her skirt down.
"Riddle, put me down!" She shouts.
"Be quiet or you're going to get us caught." I warn her, keeping a hold on the back of her thighs before leaving the classroom.
I manage through the maze of hallways, my thumb occasionally gliding against the silky surface of her thighs. Her hands hold my waist, pushing her upper body upright as she attempts to get me to set her down.
When we reach the narrow staircase, I set her down. Her face is red and her hair is in a mess of curls as she stares at me, annoyance on her face. Her bottom lip is pouted out in frustration and she flattens her skirt before crossing her arms over her chest.
