LATE MORNING GOING INTO EARLY NOON

TOKYO, JAPAN

                                                                           MARIE

"And in this labyrinth.." I heard Light continue to sing as I opened the door. "Where night is blind..." He stopped singing once he turned around in my chair and looked at me. We stayed there in silence just having a little staring contest with each other until I blinked a minute later. "Well," I began. "It's official, Light. We really do have a Sweet Snatcher in the house with us." I headed straight to my bed. "No way!" Light gasped. "What are you going to do? Right his or her name in the Death Note?" I tilted my head to one side and glared at him. "What if this person is homeless and just wanted a bite to eat?" He was dumbstruck after I asked him that. "Well," Light thought out loud as he tried to think of a good answer. "Then I guess you can just spare his or her life as what you did with those two bank robbers you refused to kill a few days ago."

I knew right then and there that I didn't want to write down The Sweet Snatcher's name in the Death Note once I found out what he or she looked like so I could not only have a name, but a face. I just didn't know what I was going to do with him or her once I found them, but I knew that I couldn't just kill The Sweet Snatcher once I found out who they really were. "So, what are you going to do with them once you've found The Sweet Snatcher?" Light asked. "Well, I can't just kill them," I answered. "I have to know why they did what they did. Some people do the wrong thing for the right reason sometimes just like how those teenagers who looked like they were my age were only stealing money just so they can help their grandma with her debt." Light scoffed once I said this. "Remember what I told you once you spared Kylie's life along with her brother's," he reminded me. I nodded. "I'm aware, Light," I told him.

I then went straight to my bed and picked up my backpack before I placed it on the bed with Dean. He woke up and ran straight to me meowing. I pulled out a folder from my backpack and continued to study. "Do you plan on studying all day?" Light asked. "You know none of your teachers give out pop quizzes or homework except for Mr. Yamamoto. You should really try to explore the rest of Tokyo and the rest of the Kanto region today. You really haven't experienced all the wonders that the country where Kira originated from has to offer." I shook my head and continued studying. After that, Light didn't respond after I shook my head. The silence between us was thick this time. I had a long week here in Japan. I found the Death Note, killed eleven evil people in general, met Light Yagami, started going to a new high school, got bullied, almost stripped down to my inner clothing, had to beat up a few a-holes for bullying a kid, made some new friends at school, almost got arrested for being the next Kira, found out what really happened to Misa Amane, and now a Sweet Snatcher was in my house. I just wanted to sit back, relax, and stay at home all day. Studying wasn't the most fun thing to do, but it was something that could help get my mind off of all the crazy things that happened this week.

"Do you wanna go back?" I heard Light ask. "You sure you don't miss it?" I sat up on my bed and looked at him. "Miss what?" I asked. "You always threatening me with death if I don't do what you say whenever you say it?" "No!" Light answered brashly. "Texas." I thought for a little bit about what Light said. "Come to think of it, maybe a little bit," I answered. "You know," Light began. "You can still go back for a small visit." I looked at Light with a puzzled and surprised look. "What?!" I asked. "That's right," he answered. "Not only are you the next Kira, but you are also a witch. With this Book of Shadows..." Light placed my spellbook down on the bed. "You can visit it and not be seen by anyone that you know from Waco," he continued. "That includes your parents, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends, and ex-boyfriend. You'll be practically..." I shook my head as Light told me all of this. "No, Light!" I protested. "I moved here from Waco so I can get away from my ex-boyfriend and all the pain that our breakup put me through, don't you get it? I left Waco so I could start over somewhere new and so I could be able to get over John and that I wouldn't go back until I graduated high school." "But what if Christy doesn't want to leave Japan?" Light asked. "What will you do then? Call your parents and tell them that you wanna go home and that you're done with Japan?"
