AFTER BOTH ELIJAH and winifred filled each other in, winnie not having as much as elijah, the couple laid in bed together, holding each other close.
"i ask you to forgive me for moving on over the years, my dear." elijah said after they were finished talking about elijah's love life.
"i do not blame you, eli." winnie said. "you believed i was gone for good. you stayed true to our vows, til death do us part. i do not see you any different. besides, a thousand years is a long time."
"still, i feel horrible." elijah sighed. "but i would just like you to know, none of them came near to comparing to you."
winifred smiled up at her lover. she did not know if there relationship would resume or what would happen but right now, she just wanted to lay in elijah's arms with his hand resting on her bump.
they were interrupted by a knock at their door. both elijah and winnie raised up to see rebekah leaning against the doorway in modern clothing.
"don't hog her, elijah." rebekah smirked. "the rest of us missed her too."
winnie got up as quickly as she could, before waddling over to rebekah, wrapping her arms around her neck.
"i've missed you." rebekah sighed as she inhaled the familiar scent of her friend. winnie had tears staining her face after her and elijah had talked since he had told her that her family had lived a normal life before dying all across europe. "i would like you to know that i kept harald and erika safe for as long as i could."
winnie sniffled as she nodded. "i wouldn't expect anything less." there was a pause for a moment as the girl collected herself. "did they have any children?"
"oh yes!" rebekah exclaimed. "amund and sarah had two lovely boys name benjamin and stanley. gunnar met a beautiful woman and they had a girl named winifred after you." that made winnie tear up. "um, oh! harald and i were married up until he sadly passed from a spreading disease in europe. ivar met a lady named armani and they had four children. alexei, luciana, mary and jane. hilda settled down in her mid thirties and had four boys and a girl. james, hunter, carlisle, beau and madeleine. and erika married very young. she was about twenty and had 8 children. all girls! salish, faith, emmaline, malia, luxury, satin, avery and penelope. they were beautiful."
winifred was happy to hear that her siblings lived a normal happy life. she was also happy to hear that rebekah and harald wedded. rebekah continued to go on and on about the modern day things while winnie just listened, fascinated at how much things have changed.
"oh we need to get you modern clothing!" rebekah exclaimed. "elijah would you like to come?"
"i would." elijah nodded, standing up from his bed and holding his arm out for his lover to take. "come along, dear."
—
after changing into some of kols clothing since she couldn't fit into any of rebekah's due to being pregnant, the trio went to shop for some maternity clothes for winifred.
they had also found her a nice ball gown for the night to come. it was big enough so it didn't squeeze her stomach but it also look fitted and lovely.
the mikaelsons and winifred sat in the living room as they boys were fitted for their suits. elijah sat protectively beside winnie since finn was in the room and esther was lurking around.
"rebekah, tell me how handsome i am." kol said, looking at his sister in the reflection of the mirror.
"ah, kol, you know i can't be compelled." rebekah said sarcastically, making finn and winnie chuckle. the mikaelsons taught her all about the things vampires could do and elijah had his mother make a vervain necklace for her, despite her wishes.
the door slammed shut and niklaus stormed in. winnie was told that the kind boy that she once knew was no longer there and that nik was now called klaus and was highly feared. he was a hybrid and immortal. he had now feelings. but whenever he saw winnie after she and elijah came into the mansion from shopping, he was brought to his knees in shock.
"you went after elena." he said, keeping his eyes on rebekah.
"elena?" winnie asked, looking to elijah with raised eyebrows.
"we'll discuss it later." elijah smiled.
"what is wrong with you?" klaus questioned.
"here we go." rebekah smirked proudly. she folded her arms over her chest as she peered up at her brother.
"do you want another dagger in your heart?" the hybrid threatened lowly.
"again with the dagger threats?" kol asked. "don't you have any other tricks?"
"oh, go back to staring at yourself." nik said, looking kol up and down.
"and who are you, my father?" kol shot back. winnie and elijah watched with amused expressions.
"no, kol." klaus said. "but you're in my house."
kol stood up to meet his brothers eyes. "then perhaps we should go outside."the vampires had a silent stare off before esther strutted into the room, making winnie and elijah tense up. elijah sat up and put himself in front of winnie to block his mothers sight on her.
"enough!" esther said. "niklaus...come." nik glared at kol before walking around him to follow his mother.
winifred groaned slightly as she felt the baby kick again. she placed a hand on her stomach to sooth it.
"is baby mikaelson up and about today?" kol questioned, looking over at the girl.
winnie nodded as elijah sat down and placed his hand on the girls stomach. "what are you doing?"
"i'm showing it your face." elijah said, closing his eyes slightly before pulling back with a smile. "would you like to know the gender?"
rebekah sat up excitedly as winnie nodded rapidly.
"it's a girl."
