IT HAD BEEN 5 years since harald had taken winnie to meet the mikaelsons. the alden's and the mikaelsons were now extremely close. their mothers were friends and shared recipes, their fathers trained their children together, both taking a liking to the others discipline.
winnie had grown extremely close to elijah mikaelson. the two didn't go a day without talking or being near the other. many of the village thought that they had feelings for each other. maybe that was true but they would never ever admit it. besides, elijah was older than she was.
at the moment, winnie sat at the dinner table with her whole family. the family would try and spend as much time together. well, most of them.
erik alden stormed through the door with a wicked grin on his face, which was very unusual. he would usually come in with a bored expression, complain about the food, yell at them and then go back to the mikaelsons with winnie's brothers and hilda to train. but that wasn't the case this time.
"winifred." it was a shock that erik would show attention to his eldest daughter which is why everyone, including winnie, froze in their spot. "we must have a discussion."
"a-about what?" winnie questioned, looking at her older brother, knowing that even if they didn't talk often, he would protect her if something were to happen. he nodded comfortingly.
"you realize that you are getting to an age where you should be considering marriage-" erik began as he sat down at the table. charity's eyes widened and placed a hand on her husbands.
"dearest, don't you think-"
"silence woman! i wasn't speaking with you!" erik yelled making the siblings jump in fear and for winifred's fear to increase.
marriage? sure she was almost of age to marry but had she considered it? no. she was only a child. she didn't want to settle or bare children yet. especially if it was an arranged marriage.
"anyways, i have found you a husband." erik said with a grin. "it is gorm goodmans son, garth."
winifred's eyes went wider if that was possible. garth goodman was 8 years older than she was. winifred was only a child and he was in his early 20's. winifred looked to her mother and amund as she shook with fear.
"the date is set." erik beamed. "winifred is to marry garth in november."
"erik please reconsider this." charity begged, her eyes full of tears for her daughter. "our winnie is only fifteen, dearest. garth is twenty three."
