Lunch ended quickly and so did the rest of the day. Soon enough Jennifer was leaving the school grounds walking to the grab n' go.

This is the place where she'd meet up with the one person who is like a big brother to her and only her. Vance Hopper.

Her and Vance had that true brother sister relationship. Where he looked after her and protected her and she treated him kindly and not like the tough monster many perceive him as.

Surprisingly, he was alone. Just him and the game.

"Hi Vance" She said sweetly

"Hey kid" He said in his usual tough tone, but with a sweet undertone.

"Have you beat your high-score yet?"

"Nah... but I will trust me" He said with a teasing smirk playing on his lips

"Can you spare me five bucks?" She asked kindly even though she was wanting to take his money

"really Jayj...? fine here's 5 bucks, but this is the last time!" he said pretending to be annoyed, but he really was glad he had someone like Jennifer in his life.

"Thanks vancey!" She said playfully as she walked off to buy something

After hanging out with Vance for a bit she bid her goodbyes and walked outside the grab n' go. She saw this weird van drive by, the man inside smiling at her creepily.

Someone came up behind her and she jumped with a light yelp.

"Jesus Bruce! you almost gave me a heart attack!" She was putting a hand to her chest

"Wow the Jennifer Jones getting scared? Never thought i'd live to see the day" he said playfully shocked

"oh shut it!" She said shoving him lightly

She laughed as he joined her laughing as well. They continued walking around the neighbourhood, once it got darker she knew she'd have to go home.

Bruce asked if she'd be okay at home and she lied saying that she would be.

Once she got home she dreaded opening that door, knowing what was on the other side. She knew her mom would be working late after getting back from the hospital, leaving her and her father alone.

Before turning the door knob she thought about any other way of spending the night. She knew she'd have to face his shit eventually.

So, she opened the door...
