Liz, Patty, and I were sitting in the courtyard talking with Black Star and Tsubaki, in a satisfyingly symmetrical pentagonal pattern. Patty and Liz were dividing up the Kishin eggs we harvested on today's mission. Kishin eggs are the souls of people who have fallen off of the path of the good, and have begun to give into madness, which incites them to do evil. Weapons eat the Kishin eggs. Once you collect ninety-nine Kishin eggs and one witch soul per every weapon you have, your weapon becomes a Death Scythe, my father's personal weapon. In my particular case, I was training Liz and Patty to be my Death Scythes, even though technically, they were pistols.

"Hey everyone!"

I turned. It was Maka. I smiled at her, and waved both hands to maintain my symmetry. She ran up to our group and took a place in the circle.

"Everyone, this is Maka. Maka, this is Black Star, Tsubaki, Liz, and Patty," I introduced. Each greeted her with "hi's" and "hey's" after I gestured to them. Black Star, as per usual, interjected with his signature, "YAHOO"!

"So this is that cute new meister that Soul and Kid have been raving about all day," Black Star exclaimed, and laughed heartily.

Tsubaki smacked his arm, almost in a maternal way. "Black Star!" she chastised.

Maka looked over at me and chuckled, which only continued when she noticed the nervous blush on my cheeks. She was still smiling though, and soon enough, I found myself laughing as well. I scooted closer to her. I was ruining the symmetry of the circle of my own accord, but I wasn't concerned. Maka was worth disregarding my petty OCD. Soon enough, she had fit in seamlessly with the group, and we were all joking and laughing as if she was an old friend. Then, Soul exited the school doors and came over to our seating arrangement.

"Maka, guess what?" He smiled, "564 Ryuga Street, we got one!"

She squealed in response, "Soul, this is gonna be a blast!"

I couldn't refrain from asking. "What, by chance, is going to be such a hoot, Maka?"

"Oh, Soul and I are officially weapon partners!" She responded. I gasped inwardly.

"And now we're going to be rooming together!" She finished gleefully. I exhaled heavily. I had to do something quickly before Soul won her over.

"Maka, would you like to do something this weekend?" I asked on a panicked whim.

"Oh," she replied, surprised. She thought it over.

"Of course, Kid!"

I smiled triumphantly. "I'm going to need your phone number if we want to make plans," I requested boldly.

"Why don't you just get it from me?" Soul waved his inked hand in front of my face.

"Thank you, Soul," I muttered my response.

"Absolutely no problem," he smirked at me. He motioned to Maka.

"How about we head over to our new apartment Maka? I'm sure there's plenty of things to unpack and set up," he said, looking directly at me. She hopped up from her spot, skirt flouncing.

"Bye you guys! See you... Friday?" She directed the question at me.

"Would not miss it," I smiled at her warmly. They walked away from us, and just before they were out of sight, I saw Soul lace his arm around Maka's waist. I clenched my fists.

"Let's get going, huh Mr. Jealousy?" Liz taunted me. "We should be homeward bound anyways, I bet Patty's hungry by now."

"Oh, I am, I am, please Kiddo!" Patty leapt up.

I sighed as I rose from my seat and remembered his arm around her waist.

"Yeah. Liz, Patty, come on. Goodbye Tsubaki, goodbye Black Star."
