Well, this was a ballsy move worth taking, I thought to myself, as I tightened my grip around Maka's waist. I couldn't believe how easily and seamlessly we fit together. I looked down at her. She was really was something. She wasn't some kind of supermodel, she was in fact quite ordinary, but what made her so striking were the little things: the way she lilted when she walked, her beaming smile, and the flush of her face when she talked about something that made her happy.
"Soul? Did you hear me?" Maka asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Huh?"
"Soul, I asked if we should do something for dinner before we get to unpacking all of our things." She responded.
"Oh, sure, how about we grab some take-out?" I suggested. "It's kind of a night-in type of evening considering the work we have to do moving."
"Alright, I'll give them a ring right now so they can have it ready when we get there," she said, pulling out her phone. She went for a call, but I saw she had a text message from someone. A closer look revealed it to be Kid, that rat bastard. He was probably asking about their 'date' or something.
"So, Maka," I tried to refocus her, "how about that take-out?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah!"
We continued walking for a while until we finally reached our street. I could see her getting more and more excited as we neared our dorm. I was also pumped, living alone with Maka allowed me endless possibilities to show her that I was the right guy for her. Soon enough, the familiar sound of keys jangling got my attention, and we were opening the door to our new home. Maka immediately squealed and ran inside, and most of it was furnished already, the only thing missing was all of our own personal things to make it more comfortable. At any rate, I was pleased that we actually wouldn't have to do much work, most of it would be unpacking our suitcases.
"Well, looks like tonight won't be as busy as we thought it would be, but take out is still on its way, what do you feel like doing, Soul?" Maka asked me.
"You," I said under my breath.
"Oh really," Maka shot back, arms crossed over her chest.
"I-I mean, that didn't come out right, I didn't mean to say that," I stuttered, scratching the back of my neck.
"Well, Soul, you'll have to earn that kind of privilege," she said decisively, with a smug smile on her face and a stout nod. "But, seriously, how about a movie?"
"Cool." I responded, locating the remote and turning on the TV. I grabbed the blanket that was slung over the back of the couch and draped it over the both of us, and we got to deciding what movie to watch. We decided on a scary movie, which was a classic move on my part. You know, the Good Ole "Girl gets scared and leans into Guy for protection" move. We started the movie, and by the time the first scary thing jumped out at the camera, Maka was already snuggled up to me, hugging my arm so tightly I was losing circulation in the best possible way.
Halfway into the movie, I began to build up my courage, and lightly placed my hand on her thigh. I gradually moved upward without her noticing, and then suddenly, the doorbell rang. Damn, I thought to myself, standing to get the door.
"Five will be your change sir."
"Thank you," I responded, snatching the food and money from his hand, and practically slamming the door. I was a little pissed about the interruption.

The credits rolled and illuminated multiple half-eaten take out boxes on the coffee table.
"Maka, we should get some shut-eye, we start training tomorrow, now that we both have a partner," I suggested.
"I guess you're right," she said slightly apprehensively.
I walked her to her room and watched her tuck herself in. I flicked off the lights and was about to retire to my own room when a small voice caught my attention.
"Soul?" Maka peeped. "I have a weird request, I'm a bit shaken after that movie, and..." she looked around nervously.
"And?"
"Would you sleep in here with me tonight?"
Is she serious? Am I actually this lucky? I was beaming mentally.
"Uh, sure, I guess," I attempted to respond coolly. I walked over to the bedside and peeled off my shirt, and climbed under the covers. She immediately scooted over and nuzzled into me. I wondered if she could feel my heart practically thumping out of my chest.
"Thank you so much, Soul, good night."
I rested my chin on her head. "Good night, Maka."
