He was seething with anger, his eyes blazing like hot coals, and his face flushed with rage. "I swear to God, Dad, you'll regret this decision!" he spat, his voice trembling with fury, each word dripping with venom. "I'll show you a side of me you never thought possible, not even in your worst nightmares!"

With a violent jerk, he slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden, jarring halt in the middle of the road. The tires screeched in protest, the sound tearing through the night.

Gabriel's breath came in ragged gasps as he gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles white with the intensity of his emotions.

Feeling suffocated, he yanked off his tie with a sudden frustrated pull, then hurriedly unbuttoned his coat, desperate for air.

"If only this night had never happened... everything would still be the same," he muttered, his voice cracking like fragile glass, the words barely audible over the sound of his own heartbeat.

His chest heaved as his eyes welled with unshed tears—the tears he had been holding back for far too long. "I wish I could erase it all... Dad, you've ruined Rumi's life, just like you've ruined mine. How am I ever supposed to face her again?"

He banged his head against the steering wheel, the dull thud reverberating through the car as his grief poured out. His tears soaked his shirt sleeves, a torrent of sorrow he could no longer contain. His despair felt like a weight too heavy to bear, pressing down on him with crushing force.

A car horn blared behind him, loud and insistent, but Gabriel didn't move. He was lost in his own anguish, oblivious to the world around him.

His pain consumed him, leaving him numb to everything but the ache in his chest. The driver behind him, furious, got out of his car and knocked on the windshield. Gabriel slowly lifted his head, his eyes vacant, hollow—like a soldier shell-shocked from battle.

With a shaking hand, he wiped away his tears, forcing himself to focus. The honking behind him continued, impatient, demanding.

Reluctantly, he started the car again and slowly drove off, his mind a whirlpool of pain and confusion. Each honk echoed like a cruel reminder of the reality he couldn't escape, but his heart wasn't in the drive anymore—it was broken, shattered by the weight of his father's decision.

Later that night, at 1 a.m., Rumi sat alone on the terrace, lost in her thoughts. The soft night breeze played with her hair, but it did little to soothe the storm raging within her.

Her mind kept replaying memories of her time with Gabriel, each one like a haunting melody she couldn't escape. The once beautifully decorated lawn below, filled with joy and laughter during family gatherings, now felt like a mockery of her current heartache—a constant reminder of the happiness that seemed forever out of reach.

She had loved him in secret for so long, afraid to confess, terrified of losing him, even if just as a friend. And now? Now she was trapped in a relationship that Gabriel clearly never wanted, suffocated by the weight of his reluctance.

"I loved him... even when it was one-sided, painful as it was," she whispered to herself, her voice barely audible over the soft chirping of crickets in the night.

Her finger traced the contours of her wedding ring, absentmindedly, as if it were a talisman she both cherished and resented. The cold metal felt foreign on her skin, much like the life she was now forced to live.

"I wanted to be with him," she continued, her voice cracking under the weight of her emotions, "but on his terms... not like this. Not against his will."

Her gaze drifted upwards to the night sky, her heart heavy with longing. The stars twinkled innocently above, indifferent to her turmoil. "This marriage... it feels like a burden, and I fear the day he'll want to break free."
