Gemma didn't answer–just levelled a glare at her.
The witch didn't seem to notice as she continued, "I hope I'm not interrupting something. I'm here on brief but urgent business."
"And what is that?" Gemma questioned her.
"I have a few questions, that's all."
"About? What was so urgent that you couldn't have summoned me to the Ministry?"
Umbridge looked at her unamusedly, "Don't ask such stupid questions. Follow me, please."
Gemma's scarred hand was on fire as she stiffly followed the witch into the next room–not having any room to argue.
When she rounded the corner, she saw her dad and Tonks trembling across the room–both under the watchful eye of a couple of Ministry workers. However, Gemma noticed that Pa Teddy was missing, and she didn't even get the chance to ask where he was. Nana Andi subtly shook her head and stood near her daughter and son-in-law.
Gemma was about to make a crude retort about the Ministry being scared of her parents when Umbridge asked, "Miss Lupin, please have a seat."
With her teeth grinding together and her blood boiling under her skin, Gemma joined the witch at the small table where she and Pa Teddy played chess regularly.
"What is this about?" Gemma demanded rigidly–not liking how similar this meeting was to the first day she was tortured in detention by the bitch herself.
Umbridge didn't answer; instead slid a cup of tea across the table and said, "If you do not drink all of this before we begin, we will have to take drastic measures, Miss Lupin."
Gemma knew what was in the tea.
The woman had tried to do this to Harry at Hogwarts.
So she wasn't ignorant of what was about to happen.
"I'm not thirsty," Gemma said bluntly–staring at the frog-like witch.
Umbridge's eyes seemed to glow in delight, "Well, then, I guess we can do this the hard way."
Gemma flinched violently at the sound of Nana Andi crying out in pain as a jinx was shot her way.
"HEY, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Gemma cried out as Tonks rushed to her mother. "YOU CAN'T DO—"
"The Ministry needs answers, so the Ministry will get them," Umbridge interrupted almost sweetly. "Now, please drink your tea before we start this, Miss Lupin."
"No...don't..." Nana Andi gasped out.
Gemma stared at her grandma before looking back at the tea and then at the Ministry witch.
Gemma had missed something. Something had happened, and she had missed it. That had to be why Umbridge was here and Pa Teddy was missing. There had to be a reason–and now here she was, being threatened with her family for answers.
She could do it.
She had watched and had enough coaching by Mad-Eye when trapped in Grimmauld Place to know she could.
So. Gemma drank the tea.
"No!" her dad cried, only to be held back by a couple of men working at the Ministry.
"Mr. Lupin, might I remind you that you lost your job with the Ministry because of an outburst? About your daughter–might I add?" Umbridge snipped at him in disgust. "You are lucky she escaped your disease, but you, sir, are not safe. Might I also remind you of the punishment for werewolves who lash out? Do you really want to leave behind your child and..." She gave Tonks an equally disgusted look, "Your lover?"
