Secrets of Thieves

chapter 14.

TW- killing someone, not too graphic or descriptive 

He laughs and shakes his head looking forward and then turning to me. 

"I think I know why he likes you."

"Really?" I smile tilting my head. 

"Yah. I think you remind him of our mother." My face turns to confusion, I've never heard of the queen before. He must have seen my thoughts as he continues, "She died five years ago in a fire. She was trying to protect tommy but the smoke got to her and she passed. I think Tommy likes you because you're his second chance. He couldn't save mom so he wants to save you." He looks down. I feel so bad for them, losing his mom is horrible, I understand the pain since...nevermind.

"I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom actually died in a fire too. But don't worry about Tommy, I would never hurt him he reminds me of someone I used to know." He looks down and twists his hands together before glancing back at me.

"You make me forget your a thief sometimes. I wouldn't expect someone so nice wants to kill me." He scoffs.

"I don't want to kill you, I want your earring." 

"Well it's too bad you won't be getting it."

"Sure." I laugh and smile at him. 

Bucky and Technos horse stop quickly causing me and Techno to share a worried glance. Sounds come from trees nearby. I look around for the first time in a while. We aren't in an open field anymore, we are in a dense forest hidden except for the streaks of moonlight flooding in. 

"This is so stupid! The last guy got killed for this mission not even near the location and now we have to go finish it!" Fuck I mutter, they must be sent from the old boss. They dont sound older than 19; this is a suicide mission at this point.

"I mean I thought it would be easy but apparently not. Hey stop bumping into me!" The voices are to our left; my side.

"You're responsible for that death aren't you?" Techno whispers to me sliding off his horse. He has a glint in his eye like he's proud. I nod and he puts out his hand and I grab it pulling my leg with me so I can slide off of Bucky.

"You planning on killing them?" I whisper to him, looking up and he smirks.

"No, I'm planning on you killing them." Oh great! "Why do you look so scared? You don't have anything on you do you? Do we have so much trust that you will go without weapons with me in a dark forest."

"Fuck off, I have my dagger." I stare at him with anger in my eyes at his mocking. I bend my arm and push my elbow into his chest so I can lift my leg to grab the dagger from my boot. He grabs my elbow to help me balance. Wow he didn't push me off of him.

"Do you really only have one dagger?" He raises an eyebrow

"Well there aren't many places to put them in this tight ass outfit." I whisper yell at him. He rolls his eyes and hands me one that's next to his sword at his side. He grabs my hand and opens it sliding the daggers hilt into my palm, keeping eye contact. And for a moment I don't think about the earring I want from him, I think about how I want to be with him. 

(ew cringe, sue me)

"Go get them, I'll watch Bucky." He whispers into my ear leaning down. He pulls back and I nod at him turning to find the voices.

"No its stupid!" 

"No its not!"

"Ugh! Whatever....anyways did you see that bush-" They keep talking about random things and I sneak behind trees watching them, my eyes sharp with malice. 

"Did you hear that?" I stop moving and I see them turn in my direction. I can either play this off in a just killing way or in a play them til they die way. I go for the second option so I can kill them separately. I feel bad having them watch each other die but not bad enough to not kill them. 

I ruffle my hair and make myself look a mess. I pop out from the trees and slowly walk towards them making sure they see me. "Excuse me miss what are you doing?" Time for a performance for a guy I'm trying to steal from. 

"Oh my! Hello! I'm so lost and Im really scared I was looking for help for my friend! She-she feel and hurt her leg and I need help- I-" I make myself sound out of breath and frantic. One of the guys comes up and puts a hand on my shoulder. 

"Dont worry miss, we can help!" He smiles like his job isn't theft. Well I guess mine is too.

"Thank you so much." I cry out. I move towards where I came from but they both follow. That's not what I need. "Wait wait...can one of you stay here because this- this is the path I need to stay on and I don't want all of us going and losing it!" I sniffle. 

"Oh great idea! Here stay here, well be back." He says to his friend and me and the guy wander into the woods. 

"Where is your friend at?" He questions slowly as he looks around.

I stop and turn to him seeing Technos red eyes in the distance. "Well my friend is far enough to where your friend won't hear your screams." I grab my dagger as he stands confused and dig it into his side and use the other to slice his neck. I then knock him out in the back of his head. I twist the hit of my dagger which hold poison and drop some into his mouth. I close it back up and check his pulse. Dead.

He didn't scream thankfully. I squat down and close his eyes and hold his hand, "I hope you lived well."

I turn and walk far enough from him to where his friend wont see his body. Techno comes up next to me, "What about the other guy?"

"I got it now go."

I watch him walk away and until he's gone. I kneel to the ground and I let out a loud scream. I hear someone running from behind me. Good. His friend is behind me, "What's wrong wha-" I spin and stab his stomach making him collapse. I pour the rest of my poison down his throat and he struggles, coughing and shaking. He slows and then stops. I check his pulse. Dead.

Once again I close his eyes, "I hope you can meet your friend in another life". I give his hand a squeeze and turn away. 

Clapping comes from behind me and I turn to see Techno with a smirk. He claps slowly and loudly as he gives a small laugh. "That- that was good and if I'm honest it was hot."

I step back a little and my face flushes red, "Did you really just say that in front of a corpse."

"I guess I did."
