"Look into my eyes, please." Perseus repeated, fingers tracing Medusa's cold cheek.

"That will not happen." Medusa shook her head severely, eyes insistently on the ground.

"Please..." The Greek man's hand glided around monster's chin desperately. "Just a look..."

"Just a look that might end up killing you?" Medusa smirked ruthlessly, tears slowly welling up in her stony eyes, "Do you think that I am that heartless to finish you like that?"

"And why do you care, Gorgon, if you end up killing me?" Perseus provoked the monster. "After all, I would be one of endless men you would have petrified."

"It is because..." Medusa exclaimed, stopping mid-sentence. She took an abrupt step back, snakes in her hair dancing.

"It is because I value and cherish you," she bit her lip, refraining from saying more.

"Hm? Is it?" Perseus gently teased, unsatisfied with her answer.

"It is because..." Medusa took a step forward, eyes cast on the ground. Her forehead was almost touching Perseus's, fingers curled against hero's chest. "It is because I have found solace in you. You have understood me when the rest treated me like a monster waiting to be slain. It is because I love you."

There, Medusa sighed, finally admitting three words she was so afraid of saying out love.

"See?" Perseus let out a smile, gently grabbing Medusa's hand, "It is reciprocal, you will not end up killing me."

The monster shook her head, taking her time to think.

"Trust me, please?" Perseus lifted up her cheek, while Medusa's eyes were cast firmly on the ground.

"Alright," she finally said, their eyes finally meeting.

Time seemed to freeze as Medusa gazed into Perseus's ocean eyes, heart almost escaping her chest. Never in her life, had she seen such mesmerizing pair of eyes, basking ethereally in sunshine. Medusa's skin was burning, almost excruciatingly as she could not lower her gaze.

Is it the end? She thought to herself as the hero's eyes enveloped her with warmth.

Meanwhile, Perseus stood in awe as Medusa's skin started to glow alarmingly. Her gaze softened under the hero's eyes, eyes turning into a beautiful emerald hue. Her ice cold skin was becoming warmer woth each second, recovering its olive tone. The angry snakes of Medusa's hair were disappearing as well, replaced by jet black silky strands. The hero sighed in relief, the curse was, finally, broken.

"You are alive," Medusa's eyes lit up, glowing with happiness.

"You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen," Perseus watched her, enticed by her charm.

Medusa smiled in return, still in the trance of what happened minutes ago. She was finally free of the shackles that kept her for years.

"I love you," she whispered to Perseus, lips almost touching.

"I love you too," the Greek man replied gently in return, capturing her coral lips with his. The sensation was almost dizzying, the way she tasted left Perseus greedy for more. Every movement ignited a fire, electricity passing through their bodies. It was a kiss that wiped away all the years of despair and pain.

The pair finally broke apart, catching their breath from passionate affair. A soft smile played upon Medusa's lips, the bliss of new beginnings.

"Let's get going, my love," Perseus tenderly took Medusa's hand, fingers intertwined. "We have a long way to go."

The End.
