Berlin was now in the hands of other threats, this meant only one thing to a certain general: The Ratte was ready.
General Patton launched Operation Southwind in the arch of a few days, columns of tanks, supported by hundreds of artillery pieces, stormed the city, eliminating weakened Neuroi all over town.
But there was a certain place, near the Tiergarten, that not even the Ratte could enter. It was the place where hostages were kept and tortured, it was exactly the place where all the Witches radios went missing.
So, with a nonconsensual Patton, a single man and a Witch where sent. His surname was Rommel, a general touching the ground of his fatherland since the time it was subjected.Rommel: Hartmann, you're sure your theories are right?
Ursula: I am, general. A little distraction and I'll inject the serum.
Rommel: Are you sure it's not because he's got your sister?
Ursula: Would something change?
Rommel: Nothing. Come on, get in position.
Hartmann positioned herself in a high place, waiting for Andrea.
Rommel was there, waiting. Then he heard a metallic sound. That's the moment Andrea appeared from the ground, still with his gas mask attached.Rommel: Andrea, right?
Andrea: Wor arg jiu?
Rommel: A man who would like to walk over those streets with serenity in his mind.
Andrea: Whry yiure hheere?
Rommel: To talk to you, a chat between two people in the army.
Andrea: Ihr nreed nok one!
Rommel: That's what your Neuroi part is telling you, the one who distorted you both mentally and physically.
The other part is your human side, the one who's impossible to not preserve.Andrea: What doghiu wont?
Rommel: Don't you care about your comrades? You know who I mean, the Witches.
Andrea: Seirs safe form ghiu!
Rommel: You retain a hull a "safe place"? Something tells me you don't know about the latest invention, or we would prefer to say "prevented invention".
You know, a certain bomb capable of reaching the temperatures of a star.Andrea: Zie Artiom Boomb!
Rommel: Atomic bomb, that's the name.
I'm talking to your human part, don't you want to protect them? Then release them, so that they can escape.Andrea: Fei wrill de safe!
Rommel: They will once you'll return to your normal form, what about now?
Hartmann dropped on Andrea, injecting the serum on his neck.
The normal screams were substituted by other metallic sounds of agony, while he was falling to the ground, slowly disintegrating the Neuroi parts.
It lasted for just a minute, but it seemed painful.
Slowly, out of that white cloud, a normal human appeared, it was Andrea.Andrea: U- Ursula? Why are you here? It's dangerous, there's a Neuroi talking- Who are you?
Rommel: The Neuroi you're speaking about. Welcome to Berlin, your human side freed it.
Andrea: I... I was under Neuroi control?
Ursula: Ehm, Andrea. What have you done to the Witches?
Andrea: The- The Neuroi Witches?
Ursula: Oh God...
Rommel: They were not Neuroi, where are they?
Andrea: They're- They're in the Tiergarten!
Ursula: How are they?!
Andrea: I... Don't know, I don't remember.
Rommel: Hartmann, the way is clear, if you want to go now, do it.
And Hartmann rushed to the Tiergarten, leaving Rommel and Andrea behind.
She arrived after some minutes in an area without grass, with bodies.Ursula: Erica!
They were moving, but mostly crawling.
Tears on their eyes, blood on their mouths, but they were alive.
The strange thing was that they didn't said a word, not even an hiccup of crying or some noise because of the Neuroi core put in their chests.
Neuroi cores, Andrea opened their chests and constructed into them a Neuroi core for each of them, to then closing the chests as if nothing happened.
But after all they were fine, fortunately forgetting the memories of the torture times. The only thing that lasted was the pain, but that was curable.Days followed, they were all sent to the SJS headquarter, in London.
All kinds of information were extrapolated, from the sensation proved when the core was installed to the most basic knowledge of mankind in case they were mentally infected.
Andrea was also there, also getting interrogated, but something was different from the others.Rommel: So, you said that since they have their cores you feel like related to them.
Andrea: Yes, it's like the powers of the Night Witches, but less powerful.
Rommel: Would you like to get in details?
Andrea: Well, I know their locations, their morale, but I know they don't know mine. It's like I have a more powerful power.
I also feel... Familiarly with them, like the so called "familiars" of them.Rommel: That also said that last part. It seems they have to remain in contact with each other.
Andrea: Like a family... Wait, what was this meeting about?
Rommel: You see, if they can't get any further from each other, they can't fight properly, unless they're all in the same unit.
Andrea: I think I know where this talking is going.
Rommel: The 509th will be created in a week, we want you to guide it.
Andrea: So I'll train them?
Rommel: We have captured a Neuroi core, they were talking about your results during the imprisonment.
We need this kind of soldiers, or this war will never end.Andrea: The sea Neuroi have scared the High Command.
Rommel: We have lost part of our newest fleet, now even the Liberion continent's are in danger, Fuso Is already preparing to counter a Hive on their mainland.
Andrea: I'll need more people.
Rommel: We're going to organise an international concert for the liberation of Europe, there you will recruit Witches from all over the world.
Andrea: I'll decide them, I think I'm developing... Tastes, you know?
Rommel: Whatever you want.
Those are the keys for the archives, there's a dossier of every single active Witch.Andrea: Thanks. Oh, sir Rommel, I have a question: Is the SJS listening?
Rommel: No.
Andrea: Then could you tell them that I would like to join them? I think I can also train them.
Rommel: ...Sure.
Andrea: Rommel, another thing.
You and Patton don't seem to like how things are going. Never tried to blame your government?Rommel: What are you talking about?
Andrea: Sit down, I have a theory to tell you.
