Dear Moon,
I wish that I could save you from the darkness that you drown yourself in. My light only burns this bright for you as I attempt to scare away all the ghouls that dare haunt you once night falls. Although you shine on your own, I can't help but offer you some of my radiance each sunset to try and offset the constant ache I feel in the absence of your touch. Each time we brushed past one another was a moment to be cherished as it was eternities until we'd meet again. Every day, you only seem to move farther and farther away as my scorching heart flares as I dream of you in my arms once more. Alas, we are burdened to circle each other repeatedly until the end of the world, always so close but so far. You are close enough to touch, but never to keep as my blazing rays reach out to stroke your pale face.
Although our love affair constantly seemed at odds with the universe, our stars aligned. I spent an infinity in your arms as you held me in your cool embrace. The moments ticked by like centuries as you swallowed my searing fire and left my innards as cooling embers. I let my brilliance trickle into your core as you bathed me in your calming, luminescent glow. Then we began our eternal dance among the constellations and galaxies, torn apart by the forces of gravity. I gazed longingly at your gleam, already having forgotten its serenity as I ignited once more. Destined to adore from afar, as the original pair of
star-crossed lovers.
Love,
Your Sun
