Dear Moon,

I'm not sure how long I can do this. My blinding light and burning fire are nothing if I can't share them with you. Whenever I try to shed some of my radiance onto your pale surface, you always turn away and continue on in your orbit. Each time I wish I could just pull you out of your circuit and force you to face me, stop you in your tracks and bathe me in some of your luminescense as I try to understand. Despite my hopes, you still revolve around the Earth with complete devotion while the universe consumes your brilliance.

The night can't help but tug at your confidence, as the darkness puts all of your insecurities on display in the midnight sky. Although you simply shrink away in disgust, I can't help but caress your rough edges and trace your craters with my sunshine. You reduce me to smoldering embers with every piece of your lunar-earth, both the dark and dazzling. Still, you rip yourself from my rays and continue in your lonely rotation as the emptiness of the galaxies eats away at you. I reach out to you with my light waves, but you retreat to the shadows as you circle the vibrant planet. Every time you run away, my fiery gaze dies before intensifying with renewed dedication in making you mine. Not to worry my love, I will be here, shining in the sky until you realize that I simply can't leave you behind.

Love,

Your Admirer
