I’d just finished maths and was laying on the hill in the sun at lunch with a good book, when someone suddenly blocked the sun that was burning down on me and said “Hey!” next to me, breaking me from my setting. “Hmm”, I moaned.  I closed my book after marking my page then looked up. Starting down at me was a tall, quite hot looking guy, who had greenish brown eyes that sparkled in the light and longish hair which was a mix of brown black and red. I couldn’t help but stare. “Sorry did I disturb you?” he asked. I nodded still in shock then said quietly “Yes, But its ok. Do you want something?”  Sitting up and gesturing towards the grass beside me for him to sit down. Fully aware of the butterflies thundering in my stomach like elephants. “I just saw you alone and thought I’d come keep you company.” He answered with a soft smile. I must have blushed because he laughed softly sending the butterfly elephants thundering harder. “Ok” I said softly still shy. “I’m Ellie but most people call me Ell.” I tugged at the sleeves of my cardigan to cover the still pinkish scares on my wrists although I was roasting. “I’m Jamie” he said. “What you hiding?” he asked. I looked away awkwardly and said “n-nothing” shyly. Stammering on the ‘N’ slightly. I hoped he hadn’t noticed and if he had he wouldn’t persist for more information.  He nodded as if he understood I didn’t want to talk about it.

I kept slightly turned away from him and noticed my mate Jade coming over dragging her newest boyfriend James with her. She smiled and walked slightly faster. I stood up and dragged her into a hug “Hey!” She screeched. I laughed lightly “Hey Bat-woman” I said. I then turned on my heels and hugged James lightly, “You ok JJ?” I asked he answered with a slight nod. He hadn’t been himself for a while I was worried about him I mouthed a text me at him then turned round to jade again. “Guys meet Jami...”  As I turned round I realised his spot was now empty. “Hun” Came jades concerned voice cutting into my thoughts. “No-one’s there.” She said looking worriedly at me “you’ve been sitting alone for ages.” I looked back at Jamie’s spot on the grass

I hadn’t imagined it...right?
