The Change

16- Waking up

I woke up and tried to sit up. Something strong and warm lay across me preventing me to do so.  I smiled at the memory of the night before. I gently removed Jamies arm from across my torso and tugged on the top I had pinched to sleep in. I looked down at his sleeping figure his bare muscular chest visible to the world above the quilt. I kissed his forehead softly and murmured Sweet dreams baby. I then gently padded out the room and down the way I had came up the night before. I peeped round Lexi-Maes door and found her playing softly as if not to wake someone. “You’re still here!” she shout-whispered at me. I laughed softly as she ran over to me. “Of course I am” I said picking her up as she launched herself into my arms. I smiled at her warm greeting placing her back down. “I’m going to cook breakfast do you want to help?” I asked. She smiled up at me “of course!” she said jumping up and down with excitement. I laughed and said “Follow me then” taking her hand and leading her down the hall towards the stairs. Once down in the kitchen I plugged my iPod in and asked Lexi “What should I play?” her face lit up and she jumped up and down. She ran over to the surface that my iPod was placed and changed it onto my Alex Goot, Lawson and The Vamps playlist. We both started dancing about. “What should I cook?” I asked turning to her. “Egg and bacon muffins!” She said sweetly then added “Please” With an innocent smile on her face. I started to gather up the ingredients and asked her to make the muffin mix up. She started to clatter about in cupboards. “Shh Lex” I said half laughing half serious. She smiled “Sorry” She whispered. I smiled and cooked the eggs and bacon. I then helped Lexi cut out the muffins and put them in the oven.  

*Jamies POV*

I awoke to the smell of bacon and egg muffins and coffee. My favourite.  I slid out of bed and tugged on some joggers, I then padded down the stairs. “JAMIE!!!” Lexi shouted at me running down the hall from the kitchen, she launched herself into my arms. “You’re awake!” Ells voice carried down the hallway, “Just in time” She smiled cheekily at me. The memories of the night before flood my mind. “Why you smiling?” Lexi breaks my thoughts. “Just thinking of something, don’t worry your little head lil’ miss” I said putting her back down and walking to the kitchen which is filled with mouth-watering smells. “What’s cooking?” I ask to Ell who is busy at the stove planting a gentle kiss on her left cheek as I do so. She relies with “Egg and bacon muffins and then fresh ground coffee all chosen by your little sister” She then turned around to face me with a beaming smile on her face. “Lexi?” I called “Yes?” “Finish your homework then go get dressed for school ok then breakfast will be ready” and with that she ran off up the stairs and grabbed her homework book then settled on the desk in the lounge.

“Last night was amazing” I said closing the door too so Lexi-Mae couldn’t see in. Ell nods a little and turns back to her cooking, instantly I can tell something isn’t right. “What’s up princess?” I ask gently wrapping my arm round her waist. “N-Nothing” She stammers in response. “Just missing James and Jade” She said honestly sounding very sad. She finished cooking and served the food calling Lexi in from the other room. “How about after I drop Lexi to school I drop you round at jades then huh?” I gave her a gentle squeeze. She gave a light nod and put the food onto the table.  She helped Lexi get a muffin and cut it open then sat at the table

*Ells POV*

After we ate I went up for a shower and to get dressed ready for  going out, I pressed play on my iPod dock that was now in the bathroom and Perfect Life by Silent Faith flooded the room. This song meant a lot to me, it was written by James and his mate Matt and it always reminded me to stay strong even when life is hard. I turned the shower on and the water pattered my skin with little splashes.  I washed my hair to the point it squeaked with cleanliness. While washing my body Bright Lights by Alex Goot came on. How’d that get on my playlist? I wondered to myself. My powers. A reply came into my mind. One thing about thought messages and Vaman, you can’t tell if the projectee is male or female. I didn’t bother to respond; I just stepped out of the shower and put my Alex Goot playlist on again. Making sure to lock my iPod after. The same song blasted into the room. I jumped back into the shower and let all my thoughts fizzle out into the water that rained down on me. 

I got out the shower and tugged on my clothes for the day. Soon it’d be the summer holidays but I was now on study leave. I clicked off my iPod and put it in my pocket, and then I clicked off the shower. I stepped out of the bathroom and called to Jamie, “bathrooms free, I’m going to stay at jades for a while hopefully see you soon.” After I had said goodbye to a very tearful Lexi, I packed up all my stuff and headed to the bus stop. I picked up my phone from my bag and text jade. “HEY chicka, is it ok if I crash at yours? I’ll explain all when I get there reply ASAP on the bus now.”  “Hey chick I’m in atm but might be heading out soon I’ll text you when I’m in” No kisses? For my Jadey that’s odd. “OK chick” I replied. I then picked up my phone and messaged my friend Channa “Hey blint bombo cant I come over could use someone right now...” “Of course hunni I’m all yours!” her reply made me smile I got up and started walking to hers. I was blasting music through my headphones to keep me smiling when I walked into someone startling me from my thoughts. “Ell?” Their voice was oddly familiar.  I looked up and saw the mid-length brown hair and greenish blue-grey eyes of my guy best friend, Jake. “Hey, Ell are you ok? You don’t seem yourself.” His eyes were full on concern as I stared up at him. Me and Jake have been best friends for ages, he even dated an old friend of mine in the past. I told him everything but one day all contact stopped. “I-I’m fine, just on my way to a mates, sorry I walked into you” “it’s ok, it was nice seeing you. Text me sometime, I still care you know.” He said as I walked away.

I knew Channa would be busy for a little while before i got there with getting her brothers ready for school so i stopped at a local park. I put in my headphones again and pulled my note pad and pen from my bag then i started to write:

I can’t do this anymore, being contstantly afraid of messing up. I couldn’t tell him no i don’t want to but now i hate myself. Do i turn back to the blades or do i just talk to someone. It’s killing me, i lost it yesterday and not via force i just couldn’t say no. I don’t know what to do anymore i think im going to go insane. I’m hoping someone somewhere understands this. i don’t know how to tell him how afraid i am. Maybe ill just write it down. I better go and get heading to Channas may talk soon thanks for listening.

And with that written I packed up my things and walked to Chantelles as if everything was normal.
