"So, what do you do for living? " He asked as we sat near the glass wall inside of the convenience store."I do ballerina twirl." Walang kwentang sagot ko habang kumakain ng isang cup ng magnum ice cream.
While we're on our way home, bigla akong nag crave ng ice cream eh. That's why he was forced to come with me just to buy me one.
"Well, that's interesting." He nibbles his lips while he was admiring how I eat my ice cream.
" Sure ka bang ayaw mo?" I worriedly asked and he just nods. "Where did you really come from?"
"Here in Spain. Actually, Pinas ang hometown ko noong buhay pa si mommy pero wala kasing tatanggap sa akin na myembro ng family nila because they hate Valencia." He scoffed.
"Valencia?" I asked out of curiosity.
"My father's surname. Del Fierro was my mom's family name and in their eyes, Valencia is one of their mortal enemy, yet my mom fell in love with my dad, you know?Their forbidden love story is just like Romeo and Juliet." His hands started fidgeting, he was as uf embarrassed. "Hindi nila kayang gantihan si daddy, kaya bumawi sila sa'kin." He smirked like he said something really funny.
There's a sadness in within his eyes but he always try to hide them with cheerful and heartwarming smile.
"Wait, so, hindi mo mommy yung babaeng kasama mo sa bahay niyo?"
"She's my stepmom, actually." He plays with his fingers. " I miss my real mom, so much." He added.
After finishing my food, hinatid na niya ako pauwi. I never expected that Peony would be looking at me with so much suspicion.
"Gabi na ah. Late ka nang umuwi." Siningkitan niya ako. "May something na ba sa inyo?" She sounds excited.
Bakit parang may alam siya na hindi sinasabi sa akin?
"What do you mean? He took the initiative to come with me, 'no. Ang kulit-kulit niya nga eh." I act like I was annoyed as I passed her by.
There are things I ranted na hindi naman talaga totoo, but I just don't want her to suspect something. Baka isipan niya gusto ko siya like, no way!
Dumeretso ako sa kwarto after kong makipag chikahan ng kaunti. She was pleased and that mamde me sighed softly in relief.
I did my night time routine like, playing my favorite pop songs while doing a quick shower, wash my face before putting a cleanser, brushes my long curly hair in front of my mirror, and then relapse sa higaan, joke. I always do staring at the ceiling and creating a scenarios where I was dancing freely on stage.
Wishing that people whose watching me would appreciate me more than what I deserve, but my dreams are just too high that I knew it's hard for me to achieve because there's other ballerina out there who dances better than me, who are indeed what people called 'black swans'.
I once told my older sister about my dream, I thought she'd be laughing at me, but no. Instead, her response was,
"Hindi naman masamang mangarap ng mataas. As long as you'll keep on chasing and doing the best that you can to prove yourself that you deserve to be someone who'm you wanted to be, you'll achieve it, Eleonor."
Her voice never failed to brighten up my mood.
That's what a good sister always does. She never let me down. Damn, everything feels draining when I'm with my mother but now, all I can say is that, I'm living so good, much better because I'm far from my lonely, dark world.
