"Don't look at me! Don't come near me, I am a monster! Please! I don't want to hurt you!" Jesse shouted at me, hiding behind an oak tree. Confused, I approached him slowly. I had seen a dog-like creature in the woods and wondered if Jesse knew anything about it. "Jesse? Are you the dog creature?" I asked tentatively.
"It's okay if you are... I won't think you are a monster. You're my best friend, why would I think that?" I tried to reassure him. But there was no response, just eerie silence. Suddenly, I heard the sound of bones snapping and branches breaking, followed by a thud.
Panicking, I called out to him, but there was no answer. I didn't like the sound of this. Then, Jesse's voice echoed in my mind. "You want to know why I'm calling myself a monster? Look at me, I am a big wolf creature."
I turned around and saw the creature I was looking for, a big, gray, furry dog-like creature. But where was Jesse? Then, I realized that Jesse was the creature before me.
I walked towards him slowly, stopping a few steps away. "Jesse?" I called out. The creature nodded with a frown and sad eyes. I walked up to him and lifted his head, making him look into my eyes. "Jesse... just because you look like an overgrown wolf, in my eyes, you will never be a monster." I told him and kissed his nose. Jesse smiled, relieved that I accepted him for who he was.
