A/N: Hi! It's me again, sorry. Just letting you all know I would love to hear some requests for one-shots! I might not end up using all of them, but I would really appreciate it.  Also, the art that I use at the top isn't really that related to the actual story, it's just stuff I found on Pinterest that I thought was cute. Credits to the amazing artists! Listen to Sycamore by Ed Sheeran.

Katara POV:

Katara heard the front door slide shut and she squeezed her eyes shut. Today was the day; she'd made sure of it. She'd canceled all her plans and had spent the day, cleaning the house with shaking hands and trying to understand why she was so nervous. It wasn't much of a day on the weather side of it. The sky was an iron gray so dark it was almost black and the air was silent and stuck in the stillness of waiting. But it was the day. In all honesty, it should've been the day days ago, but Katara had never been able to bring herself to do it. Until today. Because today was the day and she was going to do it. Today was the day and everything was fine. But it wasn't. Because today was the day, and Aang was home, and she wasn't ready.

She waterbent the sweat off her forehead before she slipped out of the bedroom and into the tiny hall. She told herself she wasn't that nervous, this was good! It wasn't like the world was ending. But everything would be different.

Katara stepped lightly into the open area that was the kitchen and living room. Aang was sitting on the couch with his eyes closed. She hesitated. She knew he was really tired. Being the Avatar was obviously not a stroll through the park. Maybe she should wait one more day... No. If she came home early two days in a row, Aang would get worried and then it would be twice as stressful than if she just told him now.

A floorboard creaked under her foot and Aang's eyes popped open. "Sweetie?"

Katara shrugged her shoulders sheepishly and studied the floorboards, caught. "Surprise?"

Aang grinned and got up to walk over to her. "You're not supposed to be home for at least an hour! Wait, whats wrong?"

Katara's head snapped up. "Nothing! Of course nothing! I just... took the day off is all."

Aang nodded, "Ok. Well, do you want to do something tonight?"

Katara took a deep breath. This was it. Just do it. Just tell him. "I... uh..."

Aang was looking at her. She had his full, undivided attention. JUST DO IT KATARA! "Uh, sure! You sit down and I'll get started on dinner. Then, um, maybe we can go see if the theater's showing anything good."

Ugggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Aang smiled. "No I want to help!"

"Sweetie, you really don't have to. I know you're tired." Katara assured him, trying to keep her voice from sounding strained.

Something in her words made his eyes narrow ever so slightly and he looked her up and down so fast it barely looked like more than a blink. It all happened in half a second, so his actual expression was really, really happy. "Never in my life will I ever be too tired to help my beautiful wife make dinner." Katara smiled and led him into the kitchen, her brain screaming HE KNOWS even though that wasn't true. He couldn't.

Katara walked across the room to the kitchen, her arms wrapped around her stomach. Her back was cramping and it was NOT A GOOD TIME. "Sweetie, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not really that hungry. Do you want some tea?"

This time, Aang's worried look was more obvious. "Sure... Are you sure you're not hungry?"

"Yep." Even though she knew it would make her discomfort more obvious, Katara put one hand on her back as she went to hunt for the tea pot and tea cups. She could feel her husband's eyes on her as she dug through a cabinet muttering to herself and trying to forget that her cheeks were probably red. Rain was throbbing down onto the windows now, and all she wanted to do was run into it headfirst, if only just to cool down her boiling nerves. "Do you want jasmine? I think we still have a little bit of Iroh's special blend left."

"Sure, but Katara-"

"I think we have some green around here somewhere too."

"Katara-"

"Did you put the tea pot somewhere? Because I can not find it in here."

"KATARA!"

"Yes?" Katara replied without turning back towards him.

Aang caught her free hand that was digging around in the cabinet. "Sweetie, what is wrong? Are you sick? You seem sick. Do you want to lay down for a minute? I can find the teapot and make some tea. What's  hurting? Do you want to take a bath? That might help. Is cold water or hot water better when you're sick? How about medicine? Does it seem serious?"

Katara took her husband's face in her hands and kissed him to make him stop talking. When she pulled away, Aang looked officially confused. "I'm not sick Sweetie."

"You're not?"

Katara took another deep breath.  Just tell him Katara. Just do it. "No, Aang, I-I'm pregnant. We're going to have a baby."

Katara realized it was the silence that she had been afraid of. More than the initial announcement. She counted every heartbeat as she waited for a response and searched Aang's eyes for any sign of negativity. Any fear or unwillingness or anger.

But all she found was joy. And then he was picking her up. Spinning her around and around and around. And they were holding hands and running out the door and kissing  underneath the crying sky. Katara's tears were flowing freely down her face, mixing with the rain and falling just as fast. She had never been more happy or relieved or excited in her entire life.

Aang pulled her into a hug. "I'm going to be a dad." he was crying a little too.

She squeezed him tight. "The best dad."

Aang stroked her dripping wet hair for a moment before he pulled away from the hug, keeping his arm around her waist. "Let's go back inside. I don't want you to actually get sick."

Katara rolled her eyes,  smiling and waterbended them both dry.  "I would second that statement."

Aang led her inside and they laid down on their bed for the greater part of that evening, both their minds flooding with dreams of someday. That day, as far as Katara was concerned, had been stressful, terrifying, painful, long and dreary, but it had all been magnificently worth it, because she had told him! Aang knew! And he was more than happy. They were more than happy.

It was a great day. The best day.
