Stepping out into the warm evening sun Lucky blinked his blue eyes. His nose to the air as his senses were struck hard with the different scents of the reserve. His head darting back and forth as he tried to take it all in. Truthfully he was overwhelmed by it all. The sudden creak of the door closing behind him left him scamping away with a sudden fear. He ran away a couple of miles before stopping. Out of breath and in a sudden amount of pain shooting through his leg. He let out a whimpered cry. Turning his head to try and lick the pain away. Running was not an option for him anymore.

Thankfully they had fed him well before his departure. He continued to travel through the sanctuary. The island was alive with creatures of all shapes and sizes. Their songs filling his ears and their scents overloaded his nose. Giving a snort of distaste. He searched for a place to hide. He was on a constant lookout for others that might cause him harm. Darkness began to cloud the sky and his fear began to grow. His thoughts and dreams filled with the tragedy he started life with.

Finally his search ended when he found a cave in the mountains. The only scent he found there was that of dust and mildew. Slipping inside he tries to get comfortable with his bad leg. Finally he managed to get a bit comfortable and he drifted off to sleep. His dreams however had another plan. He whimpered throughout the night as the horrible dream of the fighting entered his mind. Awakening with a jolt of fear as his mind forced him to awaken. Lifting his head he lets out a yawn of stress. Much like a horse does when relieving tension.

Moving to stand he stretches out his tense leg muscles. Giving a good shake he moves his head around to scent the air. The faint smell of carrion drifted into his senses. He began to move satisfied that nothing was around him. He arrives at a massive crater where the scent greeted him. A flock of Rams was feasting upon the carrion. He walked right up and over them. He didn't lash out at them but instead joined them. They scattered like a spooked covey of quail. However quickly realized that he meant them no harm. Once his belly was full he filled his stomach with fresh water.

Laying down at the waters edge for some much needed rest. The flock of Rams covered his body picking off the ticks and dead skin from his wound. One of the Rams even laid a water soaked lakeweed on his injury. He rested there for a couple hours before he moved from his sunbathing spot. The birds had disappeared heading towards their resting spot. He himself had a long way to travel before reaching his new home cave. He felt relaxed and ready to sleep for the night. Filling his body again with meat he began the long trip home to his cave.
