Chapter 4 -  *Awkward Sexual Tension*
Peggy’s perspective

Bloody Hell.
There he is.
Am I dead? Dreaming? Or just straight up delirious? Almost unconsciously I slowly reach out placing my hand on his arm. He just stands there, with that dumb little smile. He takes my other hand in his and quietly says,

“Hi Agent Carter”

“S-steve?” I'm on the verge of tears at this point, all of those painful memories resurfacing in seconds.

“Y-you… I'm.. How?”

“I know. It's a lot. But I'm here.” I'm practically sobbing at this point.

“Look, Peggy, I'm sorry. Really. I never should have left you.” I instantly attempt to reassure him,

“N-no, it's”

“Peggy, it's not alright. I miss you” I try to nod.

“Come i-in” I sniffle. He accepts my offer, walking into the foyer. I sat next to him, unable to sit across as I was scared of not being able to look him in the eye.

“Peggy. I'm about to tell you something. You won't believe me. But it's the truth.” I continue to look at my hands, fiddling with my nail polish.

“ I was frozen for many years, and woke up in 2012. I have been defending the future for a few years, but I realized I should be here. So I traveled back in time.”

“For the Howlies.” I finished his sentence.

“No. I thought it was for them. But it was really for you.” And just with that sentence, I lost any composure I still l had. With tears streaming down my cheeks, he pulled me in for a hug.

“Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere.” I looked up at him, and he pulled me closer. We had only ever kissed once, right before I sent him to his death on a plane. It had been nice, but had a bit of a negative undertone as he was about to leave. Suddenly, in that moment, I wanted nothing more than to be with him, kiss him, and more than anything tell him I was sorry. Glancing into his eyes, I gathered my courage, and leaned close, delicately touching my lips to his. Surprisingly, he didn't pull away. After about a second, I whispered,

“You love me.”

“I always did.” He smiled.

“Darling, I am so sorry.”
