I awoke early with a weird feeling in my stomach. I had to lay there for a moment before I realized what it was.
"Ah, shit." I muttered, sprinting out of bed. I barely made it to the toilet when I threw up. I heard the door open behind me and Niall's strong arms lifted my long hair out of my face.
"Jess, you okay?" He asked with concern clearly written in his voice. I sat back and looked up at him.
"Fine, now. It was probably the chicken last night." I replied. I stood up, washed my face and brushed my teeth quickly.
"Well. I'm going to take a shower. If you'd like to join?" He said, a wicked grin on his face. I smiled back at him.
"I'm going to get breakfast started. Unless, you can wait for food." I knew him way too well. In this circumstance, food was going to win. His eyes widened and he shoo'd me out of the bathroom.
I laughed as I made my way to the kitchen of the beautiful hotel we were staying in. We'd been in Denmark for five weeks now, and we were flying back tonight. I didn't want to leave. This trip had been magical. We'd seen everything there was to see, done everything there was to do. The one thing that had made it better was the fact that I was with Niall the whole time. As his wife.
I smiled at the thought, as I did every time I thought of my new title. I was sure I'd be smiling until the day I died. And even then.
I heard footsteps coming down the hall as I set the large plate of waffles on the table.
"Waffles!" Niall screamed like a little kid on Christmas. He grabbed five and dropped them on his plate. I couldn't help but laugh at him as I took my seat across the table. He glanced up from his food, swallowing a large bite he had just taken.
"Why are you way over there?" He asked. My eyes met his in confusion.
"No, you aren't allowed to be over there." He said standing. He picked me up, causing me to yelp in surprise, and sat me on his lap as he sat back down.
"Much better." He said, grinning up at me as he took another bite.
We ate like that, laughing and talking about everything and anything. I loved the way I could be around him. He didn't want a fake girl who would lie to him about the stupidest things, and I wouldn't. I could tell him anything, be anything. I was me with him, and I loved it.
I headed upstairs, leaving him to do the dishes, and hopped in the shower to get ready for the day. We were spending our last day at a lake up north from the city. A helicopter would pick us up from there around nine tonight.
I tied on a small deep blue bikini that I'd bought for the trip, and threw a white tank-top and shorts over it. I slipped on my Rainbows and headed back down the hall, deciding to leave my hair down around my shoulders. I stopped mid-step as I realized it.
I was late.
It hit me at the most random time, but it was true. I hadn't had my period since before the wedding. My breath caught. Maybe it was a mistake. Maybe I was dreaming.
Niall walked by the hall and saw me standing there. I must have looked like I was about to pass out, because he rushed to me and immediately wrapped his arms around me.
"Jessica, what is it?" He asked.
"I'm late." I whispered.
"Late for...?" He didn't get it. I looked him in the eyes, hoping he'd get the picture. His eyes widened and his lips formed an O shape.
He led me to the couch and sat me down, then went to pick up his keys.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Drug store." Was all he said as he walked out the door.
--
The entire twenty minutes he was gone I thought about what it'd be like to be pregnant. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I mean, my child, growing inside of me. That made my heart warm up. I saw my mom go through it with Ryan, and I knew it was hard and painful, but it was worth it.
I could very possibly have my own baby Ryan growing inside of me right now.
I mean, granted, I was only 21, but at that moment, I didn't care.
The thought made me smile. It was the thought I'd dreaded all throughout high school, and thought I still dreaded, but it made me smile.
Niall burst through the front door carrying a small plastic bag. He picked me up and carried me to the bathroom, setting me inside.
"That was fast." I commented. He grinned at me and I smiled.
"I'm coming in in five minutes, got it?" He asked. I giggled and nodded, and he closed the door behind him.
After taking all three tests that he'd bought, I sat waiting for the results. Just as the little beeping noise sounded, Niall stepped through the door. I stood, glanced at him, and I made my way over to the sink where the tests were. Niall approached behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and setting his head on my shoulder.
"So?" He asked, his hot breath against my neck.
I picked up the first test and cautiously read it, before reading the other two.
"Niall, I-I'm..."
"Pregnant." We said together.
