Chapter 33

I awoke and stretched. It was late morning. Ryan was at a friends house and my parents were out of town for the week. The house was mine and it was great.

I made my way downstairs and headed for the kitchen to grab a Mt. Dew. I opened the can and turned. That's when I saw the white envelope at the front door. They'd stopped coming. The last one I got was of Niall and Angel, and that was almost a week ago.

I slowly made my way to the door. I wanted to see what was inside, but then again I didn't. Niall's words replayed in my head. Next time you recieve one, don't touch it. I'm catching this sadistic asshole.

I ran upstairs and grabbed my phone, quickly sending a text to Niall.

Me: Got another one. I haven't touched it.

His reply came instantly.

Niall: Be there in five.

I sighed, and before I knew it he was banging on the back door. I opened it for him and he stepped past me, going straight to the living room and picking it up with a towel. He slipped it in a plastic bag before turning back to me.

He dropped the bag on the table before enfulging me in a hug.

"It's over, baby girl. We'll get him." He whispered. Then he was gone.

--

I called Ana, begging her to come over. Cass was already on her way, and I wanted Ana with us as well. I needed a girls night, and Skylar was already back in New York (she had a job interview and couldn't stay for Christmas). Soon enough we were all sitting around my room talking like we always did.

"Harry asked me out." Cass spoke up. She was blushing like crazy.

"What? More! I need details!" I replied, leaning forward and waiting for her to continue.

"Well, we have been hanging out a lot since the studio.. And well, he asked me to be his girlfriend last night." She had a silly grin on her face. Ana squealed.

"That's great! Ah you guys are so cute together!" she gushed.

"What about you and Louis, Ana? What's going on there?" I prodded. Her naturally red cheeks deepened in color.

"We're going out tomorrow night. We'll see from there." She said. I was so glad all my friends had found happiness within the group. I knew how much Cass and Ana loved their music, and it was a miracle they managed to find boyfriends within them as well.

Grace and Sky were lucky too. Grace had Liam, and I was so grateful for that. Liam needed someone like her. They were perfect together.

Sky and Zayn were a match made in heaven too. They both were so dark and mysterious, yet fun-loving.

The rest of the night passed with us watching random Disney movies and talking about dates and plans and such.

--

My phone rang at about 5:00am. I groaned and reached for it, careful not to wake Ana or Cass.

Niall: We've got him. You might want to see who it is, though... You're not going to like it.

God, what was it, Jason? I wouldn't be suprised.

Niall: I'll be there in fifteen. Ana and Cass will be okay for a few hours. If they're anything like you they won't even wake up before noon. ;)

I smiled at his teasing before getting up and changing.

Niall arrived and I ran out to his car.

"So? Who is it?" I asked. He looked uncomfortable.

"Just wait and see, dearie." He said, taking my hand. We pulled into the police station and made our way inside. The captian greeted us and took us back to the interogation viewing room. You know, that room that you can stand in and see people being interogated, but they can't see you? Yeah, that one.

I took one glance in the room and my knees buckled. I gasped. He couldn't have. He was my friend!

"A--" I couldn't get the words out. Niall's arms wrapped around me.

"I'm sorry baby. I know you trusted him."

I barely heard him as I stared at the boy I thought I could trust.

Austin stared right back at me.
