*_NAMELESS_*
CHAPTER 17
She stared at him nonchalantly. “Knowing you, I'm sure you already put together the pieces a while ago”.
“Yeah”.
Brett knew this for a while now. Nobody had said a thing about who the mastermind could be but they both silently settled that it had to be Seth even if they knew they were wrong.
Brett knew that the person that wanted Ava kidnapped was still out there and he had confirmed it not too long ago when he learned that Seth had gone to rehab after that party two months ago.
“ and you never cared to tell me” She stated.
He was quiet for a while. “ I'm sorry, I didn't want you to get worried or start living in fear”.
“Someone wants me kidnapped, don't you think I have the right to know that so I could at least be more careful?”.
“I thought I could handle the situation without having to get you involved. It wasn't until this evening that my plan fell through.” He paused. “ I didn't want to have you on edge”.
"You're right, you do have the right to know" he replied, "I'm sorry that I kept this from you. I just didn't know what to do".
He looked down at her, his heart tightening in his chest as he saw the frown on her face. She was right, she did have every right to know and he had robbed her of that. He needed to make sure that she felt completely safe after all she had been through, and it seemed like he failed at that once already..
“It's alright” she smiled at him. “ If not for you I would've probably been killed that day anyway. I just wish you had told me, promise me you're going to stop keeping things from me” she said looking directly in his eyes.
"I promise" he replied softly with a nod.
She relaxed. “ Thank you. But now what do we do? For all we know the person could even be here”. She said casually.
“It's alright, trust when I say you're safe here”
"You're probably right," Ava replied calmly, "Besides, this is a private event and security is really tight. I doubt they'd be able to get in here".
“Right” he paused. “And even if they do, I'll just have to deal with them myself” he smirked.
“Oh please,” she laughed.
"Plus" he continued, his tone becoming more serious, "It's not like this person would risk causing a scene if they were here. They'd want to stay as unnoticed as possible.”
“That makes sense”
They spoke some more as they walked to Ava's room. Brett stood at the door as she walked inside and turned around.
“Do you have any plans for tomorrow?” He asked.
“Not exactly, do you?”.
He smiled. “ I thought maybe you'd like to go with me somewhere since tomorrow night's activity is watching a movie” he paused. “ We already did that.”
“That sounds fine, I'd love to. But why can't we go there during the day?” She asked.
“The view is better at night,” he smiled awkwardly.
She laughed at his cute innocent smile. “ and where is that?” She asked.
“ you'll see tomorrow, it's a surprise”.
