*_NAMELESS_*CHAPTER 21
“Please don't leave yet, we need to talk!” Brett said urgently as he slowly backed away from her, giving her space to move.
Ava sighed. As much as she wanted to bolt out of the room she knew that her and Brett needed to talk.
“Please,” he added. She looked at him, she could see the pain in his eyes and his confusion was evident, this was the first time she really saw Brett how he was then. He looked vulnerable, he wasn't that epitome of perfection he used to be and for some reason, that made her more comfortable.
She dropped her shoulders and leaned on the door behind her properly. “Alright” she said.
“Ava, I messed up”.
Brett took a deep breath and started to speak.
"Ava, I'm sorry. I know that what I did was wrong, and I regret it. I don't know what came over me, but I should never have drank and put myself in that state."
He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts.
"In that truth or dare game, I was put in a tough spot. I was confused, and I didn't know how to handle it. It was a stupid game, but I..." He paused. “I know I looked at you and you assured me it was fine but I shouldn't have gone, I Know I hurt you, I'm sorry.” He made a short pause. “ I was about to say something when I came back to my seat but that's when you were dared to kiss Seth, I thought I understood your pain, but when I saw you and Seth making out I couldn't process the pain I felt, it was a dare, but I don't think anything had broken me so fast”.“Brett-” she started but he didn't let her speak.
“I told myself it was probably because of how I made you hurt by going through with heaven's dare. I really wanted to talk to you, but then- ” he hesitated to say what he wanted to. “ Jason ruined things and you left. I chased after you because I wanted to talk to you, I didn't even want to bring up whatever had happened during the truth or dare, I just wanted to make sure you were fine.” He breathed out. “ When you shut me out I felt horrible,” he confessed.
Ava listened intently to Brett's explanation, her heart aching as she heard the pain in his voice when he talked about seeing her with Seth. She realized how much he cared for her, and how seeing her with another man had torn him up inside. But hearing him say that what hurt him more was that she shut her out made her feel even more guilty for closing herself off after the game.
“Brett-”
“Ava, before you say anything,I want to tell you everything, please”
She kept quiet and swallowed.
Her silence was his queue to continue. “ After I left your room door I went to the balcony to get some fresh air” he paused. “ Heaven met me there,” he added. “ Heaven and I used to date” he suddenly said and waited a short while for her to process what he said.
Ava's eyes widened in surprise as Brett revealed that he and Heaven had dated. It was a shock to hear, especially given the recent events involving Heaven. She felt a mix of curiosity and confusion, unsure of how to process this new information.
As Brett continued to explain the nature of his relationship with Heaven, Ava listened intently, trying to understand the complexity of the situation. It was clear that there was a history between the two of them, and the fact that it had been kept secret from her made her feel a bit hurt and left in the dark.
“The day we broke up was the same day I bumped into you on the road”. He said. “ You were running towards the road like you were being chased by someone, when I pulled you away from the approaching car we fell”.
