As dawn broke over the horizon, Ava woke up slowly, her eyes fluttering open to find herself still wrapped in Brett's arms. The memories of the night before came rushing back to her, and a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She snuggled closer to him, burrowing her face into his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart against her cheek. His arms tightened around her, his grip possessive even in sleep.
As Ava lay there in Brett's arms, enjoying the feeling of his body against hers, she couldn't help but notice that his breathing sounded a little different. It was slow and steady, but there was a certain awareness to it that hadn't been there before.
She pulled back slightly to look at his face, and sure enough, she caught his eyes open just a crack, watching her with a sleepy, satisfied smile.
As their eyes met, Ava couldn't help but feel her heart skip a beat. "Good morning," she whispered, a smile spreading across her face.
Brett opened his eyes wider, returning her smile with a lazy one of his own. "Mornin'," he drawled, his voice raspy with sleep. His arm tightened around her pulling her closer.
As they lay there looking at each other in the early morning light, the atmosphere in the room was thick with a comfortable intimacy.
Brett's fingers traced lazy patterns on the skin of her arm, his gaze roaming over her face. "You know," he said, his voice still rough from sleep, "We should probably get up and do something other than just lie in bed all day.”
"Yeah" Ava murmured. " And what do you suggest?"
Brett's lips curved into a crooked smile at her question. "Well," he said, trailing off as he continued to trace his fingers along her arm in lazy figure eights. "I was thinking maybe we could go for a walk, get some breakfast, just have a casual day together.”
Ava's eyes lit up at Brett's suggestion. "A casual day sounds perfect," she said, nodding in agreement. "And I actually know a great cafe a few streets over. They have the most delicious pastries and coffee.”
"Well then cafe it is" Brett said with a smile as he sat up.
As they both sat up in bed, the blankets pooling around them, Ava couldn't help but admire the sight of Brett in the morning light. His hair was tousled and his eyes were still heavy with sleep, making him look endearingly disheveled.
She smiled and reached out to run her fingers through his messy hair. "You look cute like this," she teased.
Brett chuckled at her comment, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You always did like me when I was a mess," he said, pulling her closer.
They sat there for a few moments, enjoying the closeness and the quiet intimacy of the morning. Finally, Brett spoke up again. "So, coffee and pastries, you said?" he looked into her eyes. " we should probably get out of bed then before I get tempted to stay here with you all day”
Ava smirked at his words, her hand trailing down his bare chest. "But staying in bed all day sounds like a great idea," she teased.
Brett chuckled again and swatted at her hand. "Don't tempt me," he said, his eyes glinting with desire. "But we really should get up. I'm starving."
Brett came out of his room. Putting on a pair of jeans and a fitted black shirt that hugged his broad shoulders in all the right places.
As he walked into the living room, he saw Ava, she was wearing a cute floral skirt and a blouse that accentuated her figure. Brett couldn't help but admire her from head to toe.
Ava looked up as Brett descended the stairs and she couldn't help but smile at the sight of him. There was something about the casualness of his outfit that made him look incredibly attractive.
