Aura's P.O.V

My eyebrows knit together in confusion at Sunghoon's cryptic words. "What are you talking about?" I demand, a tinge of frustration coloring my tone. What did he mean by suggesting I wasn't just a vampire? His sigh, coupled with the regret evident in his gesture of scratching the back of his neck, only deepens my confusion. Yet, the revelation hangs in the air, impossible to retract now that it's been spoken.

"You're a halfling, Aura," he finally discloses, his voice gentle but laden with significance. My confusion deepens at the unfamiliar term.

"What the hell is a halfling?" I interject, my frustration mounting with each passing second.

"A halfling is half vampire..." he begins, his voice trailing off momentarily as his gaze meets mine once more, before he resumes, "and half human," he concludes, leaving my eyes widened in disbelief, my mouth agape as the gravity of his words sinks in. It's a revelation that opens a floodgate of questions, leaving me more bewildered than ever before.

"What?" I gasp, the revelation hitting me like a bolt of lightning. "But... how is that even possible?" I stammer, struggling to comprehend the implications of his words.

"It's really not," he replies softly, his tone tinged with sympathy as he senses my bewilderment. Yet, instead of easing my confusion, his explanation only deepens the enigma. "It's one of the rarest supernatural occurrences," he elaborates, his words sinking in with profound significance. "This means that you weren't turned into a vampire, but born one," he discloses, his revelation leaving me stunned.

"So basically... you're saying that one of my parents was human and the other a vampire?" I venture, seeking confirmation. His silent nod confirms my suspicion, and I find myself grappling with the enormity of this newfound knowledge.

Sunghoon studies my reaction intently, his gaze searching for any signs of how I'll process this information. It's evident from his expression that this was information he had intended to withhold, regretting its premature disclosure. Despite my confusion, I can't help but appreciate this revelation.  Now that I know the truth, it has raised even more questions about things I hadn't realized were significant until now.

"If I were a full vampire, you wouldn't have wanted to bite me... right?" I inquire, attempting to piece together the puzzle of my identity. Sunghoon's expression betrays his surprise at my composed demeanor. I can't help but wonder why he seems so cautious, as if expecting me to react differently. Perhaps I had reacted differently in the past, or maybe he's just overly concerned about my well-being. While I appreciate his concern, being treated as fragile is starting to grate on my nerves.

He nods, but his silence begs for further explanation. Raising an eyebrow, I silently urge him to continue. "Because you're half human, you smell like one," he murmurs softly, as if reluctantly admitting a truth. "Your blood also flows normally through your body," he continues, his words trailing off as if lost in memory. His eyes drift shut, lost in recollection.

"Last night, I became intoxicated by your scent," he confesses, his voice low and mesmerizing. My stomach flutters inexplicably at the sound. "It's so sweet," he adds, lost in the memory. "I could hear your heartbeat, sense your blood flowing through your neck." Frustration colors his sigh as he opens his eyes, the hue shifting from a dull red back to his usual brown as they settle on me tenderly, my own eyes widening slightly at the sight. "I really wanted to bite you," he admits, his gaze lingering on mine, laden with desire and a hint of restraint.

I'm at a loss of words, my breathing hitched as his gaze holds mine, a hint of desire flickering through them which I'm sure set my cheeks ablaze. "What would've happened if you did?" I ask softly, my mind racing with thoughts of the different outcome. He shakes his head and suddenly turns his back to me as he presses his palms against the counter and looks down.
