A couple months have passed and Taylor had just passed the course and was legally allowed to adopt a child. She, and everyone involved, were beyond excited to have the small girl with them again. Taylor was exhausted from relentlessly pretending to be okay while crumbling inside without having the reassure that her Arden was doing okay. But now she didn't have to pretend to be okay, she was going to adopt Arden and then everything would finally be okay for real.
"Tree, call them right now!" Taylor exclaimed. She didn't know whether to be excited, jumping up and down, or anxious, pacing back and forth, so she did both. She paced the living room while biting her lip, occasionally jumping up and down when Tree reassured her they had a great chance of getting Arden back.
"It's closed right now, Taylor, I'll call them as soon as I can. Get some sleep and we can call them in the morning." Tree suggests, putting her phone back in her pocket.
"It's only 8 pm, why are they closed, just try giving them a call," Taylor says, pulling out Tree's phone and handing it back to her.
"Travis, some help?" Tree sighs, knowing Taylor's frustration, excitement, and hopefulness.
The rest of the family would show up tomorrow morning for the news and to support Taylor while Travis stayed overnight with his girlfriend before he had to leave in a couple weeks again. He sighed and helped calm down Taylor by trying to distract her and tell her stories about his dad and he does the impression of his dad which made Taylor laugh every time.
Right at 8 am, Tree called the adoption center, wanting to get some information before Taylor wakes up so she can comfort and help Taylor prepare for the arrival of Arden. She was sure Arden would still be in the center as it had only been a couple months since their separation and Arden didn't want to be away from Taylor. She sat down with her laptop notes open, ready to get more information about meeting Arden.
"Hi there," Tree greets as the line connects.
"Hello, this is Karrie, how can I help you?" the woman on the asks in a polite tone.
"I was wondering if you have any toddlers who are ready to be adopted?" Tree asked.
"Yes, we have Timo, he's a four year old boy, he's an angel. We have Savannah, she is two and she can be a bit of a trouble maker but she's the cutest baby you'll see. And last we have," Tree held her breath as the woman spoke, hoping the person on the other end would say Arden, "Allie, she's a 3 year old, she's the sweetest kid you'll meet. That is our toddler age range."
"D-do you by any chance have a three year old girl named Arden? Blonde hair and blue eyes, she's really small?" Tree asks, trying to remember more features about Arden. Her heart was pounding as she thought about the idea of telling Taylor that Arden was adopted.
"We did, she was adopted by a great family but we aren't allowed to disclose more information. But would you like to know more about our other toddlers?" The woman says, in a sympathetic tone.
"I'll call you guys back in a couple hours if I need further assistance," Tree says, shaking as she put her phone down.
How was she suppose to tell Taylor, who was completely excited and hopeful to have the small girl back in her life again, that Arden was adopted by some other family and she has no idea where they live, what their name is, or anything about them, and there was no chance of them knowing. Tree walks over and seems a little relieved to see Taylor still asleep in Travis' arms.
Andrea and Scott had came over, Austin wasn't able to make it, and were sitting down in the living room. Tree stayed the night just so she can wake up early to tell Taylor the great news, but now she wished she hadn't stayed. Tree walked into the living room, looking defeated, she looked over at both of the singer's parents and shook her head no and sat down, dejected and scared.
"She.. she was already..." Tree nodded before Andrea could finish her sentence.
"Maybe we can talk to them, get some information, and see if the family is willing to let Taylor visit sometimes?" Scott suggested.
"They can't reveal any information about the adoption or the family that adopted her." Tree said, putting a look of defeat on the three adults faces.
"Hey guys, we're here to collect Taylor's soon to be daughter!" Travis said, as he happily walked in.
He looked at everyone and as soon as he saw their faces, he understood the context of the situation. He looked back at Taylor, who was still oblivious and walking into the living room, dancing and humming a song. He sigh and pulled her into a hug, making her more happy but confused by the sudden affection.
"Trav, we can hug more after we go meet Arden.... guys.. why is no one happy? Meeting Arden is going to be great, it's what I worked for all these months... guys?" Taylor's voice rose as she started to panic, hoping this was a cruel joke.
"Guys.. please," Taylor whispered, her knees giving out as tears streamed down her face again.
