Eric's POV
The squeak of many shoes, a horde of people yelling, a fat coach on the sideline yelling to steal the ball. The rough feel of the orange ball, the quick change in pace, a quick release of the ball at the peak of a three-point shot. The obnoxiously loud buzzer, the swish of the net, and the ear-piercing sound from a tiny sliver whistle.

"Hell yeah! We won!" Randy yelled dropping to his knees pumping his fists in the air, I felt a heavy weight clam onto my back but I knew exactly who it was "I never had a doubt you'd make it!" Leon yells enthusiastically, I push him off with a huge smile on my face "You fucking liar, you looked so worried I thought you were shit yourself I laugh." The team ran over and they were all grabbing at me in excitement, it was understandable. We just won the championship game by a hair, we were down by two but my buzzer-beater three-point shot turned that around.

"Woo! We're going out tonight!" I yell to my teammates who all cheered back excitedly. "Ahem!" The sound made us quiet down and turn to face the coach, he looked stern at first then a broad smile made its way onto his face. "I can't believe we won after such a close game, but most of all..." he turns to look me in the eyes "I can't believe you made that shot." Then he burst into laughter. I roll my eyes in response "You can all laugh it up as much as you want, my shot just won us that huge ass trophy over there" I say proudly pointing to the table with the tall shiny prize.

I'm not a three-point shooter, I actually have a lower rate for making that kind of shot. We had two really good three-point shooters on the team they are Leon and Andi. When I took that possibly disastrous shot Andi was on the bench and Leon wasn't open, so I took the shot and it worked. My specialty is guarding and rebounding, I'm one of our best defense players. I also make my fair share of two-point shots and assists, so I'm very versatile.

We all got in a line and shook the hands of our opponents then the team thanks the audience for showing up and supporting us, and that's when I spot Christian in the crowd. He stood with a tall blond dude, they seemed really close, and for reasons unknown; it bothered me. I smiled and waved at Christian who waved back but the slight reddening of his cheeks didn't go unnoticed by me. My smile fell when the blond got close and whispered something in Christian's ear, effectively pulling his attention away from me and making him blush even brighter.

As a team, we collected our huge trophy and I got a small medal for my assists and rebounds throughout the season Andi and Leon both got one for three-point shots made. They were always in competition, but they were also really good friends. After a little celebration ceremony, we went to the locker rooms. It was a home game so it was on our court, I hit the showers then hurried out the get dressed. I was the first one out so I left the locker room and made my way to the gymnasium in hopes of seeing Christian again. When I got there I did see him and as I expected he was still with the blond.

I made my way over and stood behind him, he was facing the blond and when I got close I could tell they were talking about a guy. I don't know what guy but Christian was blushing again. What guy was making him blush so much? "Hey there," I say, and immediately Christian spins around "Hi, how long have you been standing there!" He exclaimed, "Not long, just long enough to hear you and him talking about some guy." I shrugged, his friend then started laughing "Shut up Austin! Why didn't you tell me that he was standing right behind me you asshole!" His yelling only made the blond named Austin laugh harder with his hand covering his mouth.

"I just thought you, my lovely friend, would love a surprise. I mean after how you've been skipping school so often, leaving me to fend on my own with Dexter hounding after me." The second this Austin kid started talking about a guy named Dexter and rolled his eyes, my gaydar went off. "Tell him you're not interested," I shrug at Austin and he face-palms "You don't think I tried that?" "Hey I'm gonna head to the bathroom I'll be right back" with that Christian walks off and Austin turns to me. "So how come you guys are at a basketball game? Just the other day I was talking to Chris and he said he wasn't a fan of sports."
