Chapter 10: tangled up web
The morning sunlight flooded the room as I went about my usual routine, trying to shake off the strange mix of nerves and excitement that seemed to accompany every interaction with Yoongi lately. Gathering my shower supplies, I headed towards the bathroom, hoping for a moment of solitude.
However, as I opened the door, I was met with the unexpected sight of Yoongi in just a towel, his dark hair still damp from the shower. The close proximity sent a rush of nerves coursing through me, and for a moment, I couldn't find the words to speak.
"Uh, sorry," Yoongi mumbled, his cheeks tinged with a faint blush as he quickly moved to grab his clothes. "Didn't expect you to be up so early."
"No, it's fine," I replied, my voice coming out more breathless than I intended. "I'll just...uh, come back later."
Hurriedly retreating to my room, I couldn't shake the feeling of flustered embarrassment that lingered in the air. Getting dressed quickly, I tried to push the encounter from my mind as I made my way to the kitchen.
Yoongi was already there, preparing breakfast with practiced ease. Trying to ignore the lingering awkwardness between us, I settled in to eat, the silence stretching between us like a heavy weight.
Just as I began to relax, there was a knock at the door. Opening it, I found Jungkook standing there, a bouquet of flowers in hand.
"Hey, (Y/n), I brought these for you," he said, a hopeful smile playing on his lips. His Calvin Klein denim suit with white t shirt showcasing his handsome looks for sure.
"Thank you, Jungkook," I replied, my heart sinking with guilt as I gently declined his advances. "But I don't feel the same way."
As Yoongi appeared in the doorway, he sighed. "Jungkook we need to talk." Jungkook giving me a smile he walks past me and follows Yoongi to his room.
Closing the front door I follow them to try and see if I can catch some of the conversation.
"I don't think it's a good idea for you to pursue (Y/n)," Yoongi said, his tone firm yet tinged with a hint of sadness. "I don't want things to change between us."
"Why?" Jungkook asks "do you have feelings for her?"
"No! I don't know. She just can't date you Jungkook." Yoongi struggles out angrily back.
"If you don't know, you don't deserve her," Jungkook's words cut through the tension, their weight hanging heavy in the air.
Before I could process their conversation, jungkook leaves Yoongis room. Seeing me he stops on his way out and plants a cheek kiss, a gesture that left me reeling with confusion and conflicting emotions.
As he left the room, Yoongi stepped forward, his gaze searching mine for any sign of uncertainty. "Do you want to date Jungkook.. do you like him?" Yoongi whispers.
As Yoongi and I stood there in the hallway, a sense of relief washed over me as I realized that despite the awkwardness of the moment, our friendship remained intact. But beneath the surface, a whirlwind of emotions threatened to engulf me, leaving me feeling more confused than ever.
Gently wiping away the remnants of Jungkook's kiss from my cheek, Yoongi's touch sent a shiver down my spine, the warmth of his fingers lingering against my skin. His question hung in the air, the weight of it pressing down on me as I struggled to find the right words to express how I truly felt.
"I don't know," I finally managed to whisper, my voice barely above a breath as I met Yoongi's gaze. "I heard some of your conversation. Don't worry. Our relationship won't change, Yoongi. You're my best friend."
