Chapter 5: "Toast to the Unexpected"
The morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over the kitchen as I entered, my footsteps echoing in the quiet space. My eyes fell on the kitchen counter where a plate of jam toast sat, accompanied by a note from Yoongi. I smiled as I read his message, feeling a pang of disappointment that he wasn't there, but grateful for his thoughtfulness.
"See you later" the note read, written in Yoongi's familiar handwriting that I saw on our schedule he wrote out for us. It was a simple gesture, but it warmed my heart nonetheless. Grabbing the piece of toast, I quickly ate breakfast before gathering my things and heading out the door, ready to face the day ahead. Shoving the notes in my cream cargo pants I toss a light black jacket over my white shirt and run out the door with my bag in hand.
As I boarded the bus to campus, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement bubbling within me. Today was a new day, full of possibilities and unexpected encounters. As the bus rumbled down the street, I watched the world pass by outside, anticipation building with each passing moment.
Upon arriving at campus, I made my way to my first class, the crisp morning air invigorating as I walked. As I entered the lecture hall, my eyes scanned the room, searching for a familiar face. To my surprise, I spotted Namjoon and Jin sitting together, their heads bent in conversation.
"Hey, (Y/n)!" Namjoon called out, waving enthusiastically as he spotted me. Jin turned to look, a warm smile lighting up his face.
"Hey, guys!" I replied, returning their smiles as I made my way over to join them. "Mind if I sit with you?"
"Of course not, we'd love the company," Jin said, gesturing to the empty seat beside him. "Pull up a chair."
I settled into the seat, feeling a sense of comfort in their presence. As the professor began the lecture, we exchanged notes and whispered about the material, the familiarity of our routine bringing a sense of normalcy to the chaos of the day.
"So, how's your day going so far?" Namjoon asked, his eyes bright with curiosity.
"It's been good," I replied, smiling.
Namjoon and Jin exchanged a glance before Jin spoke up. "We've been catching up on some work and planning for our next project. It's been pretty busy, but exciting."
"That sounds great," I said, genuinely impressed by their dedication. "I'm sure you guys will do amazing."
As the lecture drew to a close, Jin and Namjoon leaned in, their outfits catching my eye. Jin was dressed in a crisp white button-up shirt paired with tailored black trousers, while Namjoon sported a casual yet stylish ensemble of a graphic tee layered under a denim jacket, paired with slim-fit jeans.
"You know, (Y/n), we've been thinking," Namjoon began, his expression thoughtful as he glanced at Jin.
Jin nodded in agreement, a hint of excitement in his eyes. "We're both part of the business club on campus, and we were wondering if you'd be interested in joining us for a meeting sometime."
The invitation caught me off guard, but I couldn't help but feel intrigued by the prospect. "Really? I've never really considered joining a club before, but I'm definitely open to checking it out."
"That's great to hear," Jin said, his smile widening. "We have a semester kickoff event at a bar tonight, and we'd love for you to come along. It'll be a great opportunity to meet some new people and learn more about what the club has to offer."
I hesitated for a moment, my mind racing with thoughts of the evening ahead. But ultimately, the idea of spending more time with Jin and Namjoon won me over.
