When using numbers in writing, there are certain times when you spell out the word and use just the number. Numbers ten and lower you have to spell out, though you can spell out any number you want to.
There are 24 hours in a day.
There are seven days in a week.
When it comes to decimal numbers, you could either say three-point-two or do 3.2.
When writing out math terms, don't use symbols / + = x * -. Write out multiplied/times, divided, subtracted/minus, equaled, and added/plus.
When using numbers bigger than one thousand, then you can either use 22,000, 22 thousand, or twenty-two thousand.
Numbers in the teens don't need a hyphen when written out, sixteen, but numbers in the tens do, forty-four. Numbers in the hundreds or higher don't need a hyphen either, two hundred ten, five thousand four hundred thirty-six.
