[ Hartley High, Daisy Coopers ]
DAISY COOPERS MADE AN EFFORT TO KEEP HER HEAD, hurrying past the school gates with her books clutched to her chest. She thought she hit the home stretch when she weaved through a crowd of students until she bumped into a hard shoulder and her physics book hit the ground with a thud.
She swore under her breath as she bent down to pick it up, coincidentally the student bending down as well, the pair crashing heads. "Fuck." They swore at the same time, thankfully Spider had retrieved her book in the process offering it back as he rubbed his head.
Daisy winced as he handed the book back, avoiding the confrontation as she moved back past him. Shoving the meaningless incident aside she b-lined for her locket, opening the metal door hastily. When a hand tapped her shoulder, Daisy practically jumped out of her skin slamming her locket shut again.
"Shit." The teen cursed, "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to scare you." He apologised profusely as Daisy plastered a half hearted smile on her face noting his timetable in his hand.
"First day?" She questioned, raising her brows as she took his timetable from him, analysing the classes.
He chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck watching her scan over the timetable, "How'd you know." He hovered over her, the teen a lot taller than Daisy was, "I'm Malakai," He offered a hand which she took, "You seemed pretty cool so I thought I'd take a shot at making a friend." She. narrowed her eyes, handing his timetable back.
"Cool, huh?" She smirked smugly as he blushed awkwardly, "I'm Daisy, it's nice to meet you." She nudged his arm, hoping to diffuse his nerves, "We practically have all the same classes so I can show you around if you want?"
"That'd be.." Malakai paused when a girl sprinted down the hallway stopping to yell something.
"OI! There's a fully-gacked sex map in the old stairwell." Daisy huffed a surprised laugh, as students begun taking off towards the stairwell.
"Perfect." Malakai finished with a grimace, Daisy moving past him to follow after the swarm of students.
"Welcome to Hartley High Malakai." Daisy smirked as she weaved past students to the front, scanning the map for her name. She prayed they had missed her but alas Daisy's name was scribbled beside Cash's, in a light green colour.
She found herself looking for Spider's name, thankfully no connection drawn between the pair. Instead Daisy's name branched off a few times, some boys she had made out with once or twice. What really surprised hers was the girls that were linked to her name. It wasn't a secret that Daisy liked girls the same she did boys but she didn't particularly advertise it.
"Hey!" Dusty called out as Daisy ducked under his arm to begin walking away from the commotion, "Daisy Coopers swings both ways." She stuck the finger up as she fled avoiding a glance from one particular teen. In fact, she didn't think Spider had stopped staring at her since bumping into him that morning. She knew he was never going to be able to keep his cool, she just had to make sure she kept hers.
Assembly had been called seconds later when the commotion didn't cease and it hadn't been long until Cash found Daisy, dragging her into the first empty classroom they could see. "When were you going to tell me." His jaw tightened as he checked the door once, then twice.
Daisy froze. There was no way Cash had discovered her and Spider's unintentional hook up. Right? "What are you talking about." She furrowed her brows, clutching her hands together.
"You hooked up with Dusty?" Cash shuddered, reaching into his jacket to pull out a cigarette, "Mae, you know how I feel about that group." He lit the cigarette quickly, "They're all dogs, you'll catch a disease if you aren't careful." He exhaled the smoke, Daisy brushing it from her face in a sweeping motion.
He apologised quietly as he took a step back, blowing the smoke elsewhere his next drag. "Dusty?" Daisy spoke a little more relieved than she would've liked, "Oh, Doug it happened months ago." She shrugged, "If he had given me some sort of disease I would've found out by now." She watched Cash take another drag before he put the cigarette out standing to lead her back out of the classroom and towards assembly.
"Hey," She stopped Cash in the hall, "Hold your horses. What about you, hmm?" She smiled as she gestured to the stairwell with her finger, "There were a few boys on there connected to you." She pointed to his chest as Cash's cheeks flushed.
"You're a slut, Douglas." He groaned pinching the bridge of his nose as she laughed linking their arms as they walked, "I'll see you after." At the assembly door Cash left her side, sliding out the gym door to wag assembly as he always did.
Daisy entered, narrowing her eyes as she chose her seat wisely. Sliding into the seat she turned to greet Darren and Quinni, offering them a soft smile. Quinni shuffled closer leaning over Darren as she spoke before assembly started.
"Daisy, I have a question." Quinni stated matter of factly, "Darren won't tell me, but what's a lazy kebab?" Daisy's cheeks flushed scarlet as Darren slapped a hand over Quinni's mouth.
"Quinni, where did you—
"I AM A WOKE WOMAN." Daisy's head snapped to the front as the principal took to the mic. "I enjoy sex as much as the next person." Laughter erupted through the students, Daisy smiling herself.
"Yes! But reputation is everything and this map has jeopardized your reputations and the reputation of our school. On the first day back." She announced, behind Daisy whispering broke out between Amerie and Harper.
"We are currently in the process of contacting all the parents of everyone on this map—
Oh fuck. Daisy's body went rigid as her nails dug into her palms and her eyes went wide. When she felt a hand on top of hers she glanced to her left, watching as Darren offered her a reassuring smile.
She wished Darren's reassuring smile would fix this but nothing would, and Daisy knew her father would be furious.
She could hardly contain her thoughts as assembly continued and she found herself zoning out. Darren's voice calling her name was the next thing she remembered as they helped her out of the assembly with Quinni by their side. "Sorry, I don't know what—
"Don't apologise Daisy." Darren smiled, squeezing her arm, "You're so fine." Quinni and Darren left her by the elective classes, Daisy clutching her books as she headed for French. Slumping into her usual seat at the front she startled when Ant slammed his hands on the table in front of her. It seemed he had dragged Spider there with him as well though Spider avoided looking at Daisy as Ant spoke.
"Dusty's having a gatho at the cemetery tonight." Daisy narrowed her eyes as Ant continued, "And, he wants you there Daisy." Ant informed her brushing his hands together as he removed them from her desk.
"If Cash is going, I'll be there Ant." Daisy sighed, dismissing the pair as they made their way to the back of the classroom passing Cash as they did.
"Oi, eshay bah." He heard Spider tease as Cash flipped them off falling into the seat beside her.
"Just ignore him." Daisy sent Spider an irritated glare which he returned before she turned back to Cash, "Are we going cemetery?" She questioned waiting patiently for the teaching as she scribbled in her book.
"Are you kidding me." Cash barked a laugh, "A bunch of rich dickheads in a cemetery, it's practically a gold mine." He slid a few notes from his pocket flashing them to Daisy with a smile, "I have to deal, I'd enjoy the company." She knew his expression was an act. Cash didn't mind dealing but with Chook breathing down his neck more than usual he was becoming more withdrawn.
"I'll come, as long as you can pick me up?" She sighed pulling her legs onto the seat, "Dad's taken the car keys." She watched the teacher walk towards the desk, "Again."
