[ Chook's House, Daisy Cooper ]
"Amerie," Daisy hissed pacing after them, her hair loose against her shoulders, "This is a really really bad idea." Darren pulled Daisy beside them, ducking behind the old car. Showing up to Spider's house had been the first thing the group had done, ushering Daisy into the car.
Then they had pestered her for Chook's address, something Daisy advised them against. Typically, the trio didnt listen, instead tilting their glasses downward as they watched Chook drive away.
"Do you want to help Harper or not, Daisy." Amerie shrugged peering through Chook's house, beside them Quinni taking a suspicious photo.
Straightening Amelie dramtically snuck across the road, Quinni and Darren in tow. Reluctantly Daisy followed, rubbing the sleep from her face as she went.
"So what exactly are we looking for?" Darren
"Anything that proves Chook's been following her." Amelie explained as if it were simple, "..and doing the dead bird stuff."
Daisy's phone lit up, once, then twice, both messages from Spider. She had left his house in the morning, sneaking out before his mum could make an awkward appearance. She knew he'd be annoyed she hadn't said goodbye. Yet as she went to reply back, a ringing sounded and the group scrambled Chook's phone lighting up.
The door slammed open as Daisy shoved her phone back in her pocket, cursing intently as she watched Darren and Amerie pick poor hiding spots. "G'day Chook." She rested her hands on her hips, as she forced a tight lipped smile on her face, Quinnie hiding behind her.
"Daisy, what the fuck are you doing here?" Chook's expression hardened as he glanced between her then the others in the room.
"She came, she came with us." Amerie hesitated appearing from behind the tv, a poor excuse of a hiding spot, "We just wanna talk?"
Yeah?" Chook's voice dropped, dangerously. Ten minutes later, Daisy shifted uncomfortably against the wall refusing to sit beside her friends as they interrogating Chook. "So let me get this straight." Daisy swallowed, her fingers slipped into her purse, "You lot reckon I came into your school, stole her bag, found a dead bird, put that dead bird on her bag... then figured out where she lives, found another dead bird, and put that on her doorstep?" Silence engulfed the room as Amelie rose her chin.
"Yes. Exactly." Chook let out a short, disbelieving laugh, his eyes darting to Daisy for just a second as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
"You're trying to get me to admit that?" Chook continued.
"No," Darren said quickly, before a small beep cut through the tension, alerting them all. "Recording," an automated voice chirped. Quinni fumbled with her phone as Daisy pressed further against the wall trying to hide herself in plain sight.
"You're fucking pathetic, eh?" The room seemed to shrink around them. "Why would I do all this shit?" he demanded, huffing another laugh.
"Well," Amerie started, grasping, "you've got motives—"
"Yeah?" Chook cut her off. "What motives would they be?" He leaned forward onto his knees. "You think I'd mess with her while we're still awaiting trial? How's that gonna look for my boys, huh?" Daisy turned away as the room went silence again.
"That make sense to you?" he pressed, watching them all squirm.
