"Love you to the moon and to Saturn"
- Taylor Swift, "seven"
Five years later...
Will tucked his journal in his pocket, tapping it a few times for good measure. He tapped the brown satchel that was slung over his shoulder in time to a tune only he could hear. A swell of happiness pulsed through his body with each step he took down familiar sidewalks. He slid his hands into his long brown jacket pockets. He was, above all, thankful to be home.
Will took a quick stop into Ivy Cafe. Before he said a word, the cashier looked at him with a smile.
"Two chai lattes, right?"
Will ran a steady hand through his tame hair. "You got me."
"Coming right up, sir." The cashier replied.
Will smiled, paying for his order and stepping aside. "Thank you."
This particular October was sunny and full of life, something unfamiliar to Will. It felt good, though; his skin sunlit, his hands being warmed with hot chai, his new shoes squeaking across each cement tile, and his heart pounding with excitement as he walked toward his destination.
Will pushed the bright green door open to the bustling little shop on the corner. He watched attentively as customers flooded out of the shop with big bouquets full of roses and peonies and baby's breath, their smiles a telltale sign of their genuine joy in that moment. Husbands purchased a bouquet of maroon roses for their wives to surprise them with when they returned home from work. Children tall and small played in fallen petals they found hiding in corners, throwing them in the air and giggling as they watched them fall to the pink and white checkered floor.
But none of that compared to the thrill Will felt when watching Indie work.
Her long, golden hair was held back with only her signature yellow bandana. A matching yellow turtleneck hugged her figure, revealing the small bump on her stomach. The bell bottoms she'd adorned on her perfect legs were dark brown corduroy, and beneath them sat her little brown boots. A small green apron was tied around her waist. Her silver Saturn pendant gleamed in the overhead lights inside the shop. On her left hand, a sparkling diamond sat atop a circular silver band, signifying her lifelong bond with Will, who adored every inch of her.
Will watched as her petite hands grabbed three types of flowers to organize into a bouquet. She pulled the leaves off of each flower, snipped off the ends of the stems at an angle, and began wrapping them in brown paper as her fellow employees took care of other customers in line.
After Indie had completed the order she had been working on, she looked to the entryway of the shop, unable to contain her childlike giddiness at the sight of her husband.
"Keep working hard, ladies, I'll be right back." Indie instructed. She practically ran to the door where Will stood, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him in for a kiss. She nearly spilled the chai lattes Will held in his hands.
"Woah, careful!" Will exclaimed, gesturing to the cups.
Indie pulled away quickly. "Oh my word, I didn't even see those!" She laughed, grabbing a cup from Will's hands. She took a quick sip before setting it down on the windowsill and reaching up for another hug.
"I missed you so much," Will breathed, his face pressed into Indie's shoulder.
"I missed you more." Indie sighed. She pulled back from their hug for a moment, putting her hands in Will's back pockets.
