"That would take a while to explain,"
you began, your voice carrying a hint of mystery, a subtle invitation to curiosity. As you glanced at Satoru beside you, you noticed the mischievous twinkle in his eyes, a silent acknowledgment of the tension you'd just introduced into the conversation.
"It's true," Gojo agreed with a grin, leaning back slightly in his chair. "Even I don't fully get it sometimes." His words were playful, but there was an undercurrent of truth. Gojo's powers were often enigmatic, even to him.
You smirked, leaning toward him slightly, a teasing glint in your eyes. "As if your abilities aren't just as complicated. You should try explaining yourself sometime. I bet even you get confused half the time."
With a chuckle, Gojo waved off the remark, clearly unfazed. "Touché," he said, a lazy smile spreading across his face. He was used to being the center of attention, but you had a way of keeping him on his toes.
You could feel the momentum of the conversation shifting, and you seized the opportunity to steer it in another direction. "Besides, we have a mission to focus on," you interjected smoothly, cutting through the playful banter. "If you all do well, I'll treat you to dinner."
Immediately, Nobara's eyes lit up, her excitement palpable as her attention shifted entirely to you. "Dinner? Like, actual food? Not cafeteria slop?" Her voice was filled with genuine delight, as if the very thought of a meal outside the usual institutional fare was an irresistible prize.
Yuji's stomach growled loudly in agreement, the sound cutting through the conversation and making everyone burst into laughter. "Count me in! We'll do our best, Miss Y/N," he said, rubbing his stomach dramatically. He was already imagining the feast, his enthusiasm contagious.
"Just don't get too excited," Megumi cut in dryly, his expression betraying little emotion. He crossed his arms over his chest, a subtle smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Remember, this is a mission, not a food contest."
The prospect of a reward sparked motivation in the two teens. Nobara's eyes narrowed with determination, her fiery spirit undeterred by the task ahead. She was always ready to take on a challenge, especially when there was something rewarding at the end.
"You can count on us, Miss Y/N," she said confidently, her posture straightening as she prepared herself for the challenge. Her voice was full of resolve, as if she could already taste the victory—or in this case, the dinner.
Yuji, his grin wide and full of resolve, added with equal enthusiasm, "Yeah, we'll give it our all!" His energy was infectious, as always, and you could see how easily he drew others into his excitement.
The two exchanged an excited glance, the bond between them evident. Their shared motivation made the air feel lighter, and you couldn't help but smile at how they were feeding off each other's enthusiasm. Together, they would tackle whatever the mission threw at them.
