'It's an innate domain formed from cursed energy'
Megumi thought, his eyes scanning the surroundings, his expression tight with concern. The atmosphere felt thick, oppressive—something was wrong, and it made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Every shadow seemed to hold a secret threat, every corner was a potential danger waiting to strike.
Without warning, his voice cut through the silence, panic lacing his words, "Watch the door!"
Yuji and Nobara snapped their attention to the exit, only to be met with nothing but a blank wall. The door was gone. A deep, unsettling sense of panic rose in their chests as they realized the gravity of their situation. They were trapped.
"The door's gone!" Nobara shouted, her voice sharp with disbelief.
"How?! We just came in through here, didn't we?" Yuji's voice cracked with fear, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. "Where's Miss Y/N when you need her?!"
In the corner, a small mouse scurried about, observing the group with wide, curious eyes. It remained still for a moment, its tiny form a stark contrast to the growing chaos in the room. Unknown to them, the creature was far from an innocent bystander.
"Don't worry, the dog remembers the scent of the entrance," Megumi reassured, though even he couldn't mask the slight tremor in his voice. His attempts to remain calm were becoming harder by the second. The situation was slipping out of their control, and it was clear no one was safe.
"Oh my! Good boy! Have some jerky! Have all the jerky you want!" Nobara's attempt to lighten the mood fell flat. She handed treats to the dog, her smile more forced than genuine. Yuji, though he tried to mask his anxiety by petting the dog, couldn't ignore the cold dread that gnawed at him.
"You're way too calm!" Megumi grunted, frustration starting to show in his words. "Focus, guys. This isn't a time for distractions."
"You're so dependable, Fushiguro," Yuji said, trying to find comfort in Megumi's calm demeanor. "Thanks to you, we'll save people—and ourselves too." His voice wavered slightly, but he kept the words steady, trying to push away his unease.
Looking down at the floor, Megumi shifted the conversation, eager to move past the tension. "Let's keep moving."

They continued their trek through the eerie space, and eventually, the group, along with the dog, came across a grisly scene. A man, bloodied and barely alive, lay wedged between the floor and wall. It was unmistakable—this was the same man from earlier, the one whose mother had been frantically searching for him.
The sight froze them in their tracks. The grim reality of their mission was suddenly all too real. There was no escaping the brutal violence they were facing.
