It was early morning and Yonghwa stared at the rainbow refractions filtering in through the kitchen window as she sipped her coffee quietly, her mind swirling with a jumble of thoughts and emotions.

This was a big day, one that could potentially change the course of her life in more ways than one. She had been stressing over it for weeks, and now that it was finally here, she couldn't shake the nervous energy coursing through her veins.

The sound of steps coming in her direction made her lift her gaze and she saw her roommate entering the kitchen, a warm smile gracing his lips. Despite her best efforts to maintain a sense of calm, her heart skipped a beat at the sight of him.

"Good morning, Hwa-hwa," Minho pat her head softly

"Good morning, Min," she murmured, offering him a small smile

As Minho poured himself a cup of coffee, Yonghwa couldn't help but steal glances at him from across the table. She admired the way the morning light danced across his features, casting a warm glow over his familiar face.

She had known Minho for years and shared countless moments of laughter and camaraderie. He was her best friend, her confidant, the person she trusted more than anyone else in the world, and yet, there was a part of her that longed for something more.

"Are you alright?" Minho's concerned expression tugged at her heartstrings

"Just a bit nervous about tonight," she admitted, taking another sip of her coffee in an attempt to steady her nerves

"Relax, it will be fine," Minho reassured her, reaching out to gently caress her hair "I'm certain of it"

She nodded, grateful for his unwavering support, but deep down, she couldn't shake the fear that this night would change everything between them.

Since her nerves were not only due to the award ceremony they were attending but also what she planned on doing after it. She had spent countless nights rehearsing what she would say to Minho, imagining his reaction to her confession, but now that the moment was fast approaching, Yonghwa couldn't help but second-guess herself.

"Want some eggs?" Minho's voice broke through her thoughts, his warm smile coaxing her back to the present moment

"Yeah, I'll toast some bread too," she got up from her seat "Want butter on yours?"

"Yes, do you want a runny yolk?" he turned on the stove and placed a frying pan over it

"Hm could you make mine scrambled today?" she crouched down to get the toaster in the cabinet "I think we have a bit of cheese left as well"

"Of course" he opened the fridge to get the ingredients

They each focused on their tasks and a comfortable silence fell over the kitchen. Eating breakfast together before work was like a ritual for Yonghwa and Minho, they did it every morning and more often than not it was their favorite part of the day.

The relaxing atmosphere and the comfortable companionship, the result of years of friendship and a deep love and respect for each other, made the start of their days easier and prepared them to face the challenges of office-worker lives.

"So, I get that you're a bit nervous, but are you also excited for tonight?" Minho asked as he bit into his toast

"I guess so, if I win it could be really huge for my career" she nodded

"If?" he snorted "You'll definitely win"

"The competition is pretty fierce Min" she mumbled, not feeling very confident

"I read all the articles that were nominated, yours is the best by far" he reassured her

"I don't know-"
